It's because they don't see themselves as having to be proactive but they should. The only time most pick a file off the shelf is when they get a phone call, letter or email. So the moral of this is to keep hounding them by email.

Lastly they are not on commission and will get paid whatever happens so NO incentive.

All this explained to me many years ago by a pal who is a conveyancing solicitor - at least he was honest.

If they made a few calls and did their job in a couple of hours they wouldn't be able to get away with charging £800.

Mine were so bad that I am reporting them to the SRA.
I will also write a letter (again!) to the senior partner asking if he really think it's fair that we should pay the full price quoted at the beginning.

They were so unprofessional and slow that 16 weeks after we instructed them we're still waiting for exchange. And it is a very straight forward sale/purchase with NO problems whatsoever (apart from mu solicitor).

Sorry, hijacked your thread to have a rant as well ... :)

Keep ringing and emailing them and if you have no success write to the Senior partner to complain.

    Good luck!!!

On 29th March this year I made an offer for a property, it had to be completed by 31 March. It was.

There's no reason why it needs to be slow, it's just buyers and sellers expect it to be.
  • Seems like im not on my own then !

Some posative experiances and some not so !

Well now ive got the bit between my teeth i wont let go.

e mails sent to my solicitor and estate agent.

I would love to e mail the buyers solicitor but I think that would be pushing it.
