  • Well the survey has come back with no issues, according to my estate agent.

The buyer just has to sign some documents with his solicitor, apparantly to do with their mortgage.

Oh and the buyer has spoken to their solicitor asking for a quick completion date.

Seems like the cogs are turning again !!
  • Seems after I started to e mail my solicitors and estate agents for updates , they are now starting to realise im not sitting back on my laurels.

Constant stream of e mails back and forth now.

Cant wait for monday to check my in box.

Usually the other sides solicitors would NOT communicate with you directly but sometimes they may so you could try. .

It is a breach of Law Society Rules for one solicitor to speak to another solicitors client directly. I don't know any solicitor who would agree to this. You'd have to get through the secretary first and it is very unlikely that s/he would put you through, or that the solicitor would phone you back.

The solicitor may well make a complaint to your solicitor though.
I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.

I can't say whether it is a breach or not but I know of many times where it has happened.

In my opinion a case of common sense prevailing and the better solicitors doing what they can in their clients best interests?

  • Thanks you two for the pro's and con's of making contact with the opposites solicitor's offices.

After much deliberation ive decided that it probably would not be the best course of action to further the sale of my property.

The cogs are starting to turn now anyway thank heavens !
