Can noise from kids be anti social behaviour?

Perhaps we need some child free neighbourhoods?? We have lots of retirement villages where i live, my Nan lives in one, and its lovely and peaceful! So why not child free neighbourhoods!
Your idea already exists in Scotland:

One side of me has 2 small boys, about 4 and 7. They are noisy but only kids and do get told off when it gets to much.
The other side have a girl of about 16 who like really bad pop music at full blast when parents are out and a boy of about 8.
The boy has no condition and does have some friends but for some reason he seems to think it funny to stand in their garden and scream like a girl being murdered.
His parents do nothing and this can start anywhere from 6am. The parents also have BBQ's till past midnight where they get drunker and louder and she has an irish accect that cuts through any sleep.
The children are allowed to stay up and that makes them tired and nasty. The boy teases local cats ( mine included) as he thinks that is funny but when you say anything you get a mouth full of abuse.
We do live on a council estate and they are by far the worse element but nothing can be done.
When I was a child I was not allowed out early as it would mean waking the neighbours and had I screamed my head of like that I would more then likely have been slapped.
There is playing and having fun and there is being a noisy little brat and that is all down to the parents.
It would seem some people just don't bother teaching their children respect.There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin, and roam the world at will.

I find the Asdainsco truck after 7pm antisocial as well, failing that a couple of decent shots from the hosepipe keeps the vermin down0

Some adults don't have respect for anyone so it is only natural that their kids don't either.
It is how to break this vicious circle that the answer lies.
To drive a car in the UK to have to- learn how to drive
- pass two tests
- maintain and ensure your car is roadworthy
- tax it
- insure it
- drive within the rules of the road and law

Although not liked by the authorities as it only moves the problem on this may assist http://www.cctvdirect.co.uk/categories/The-Mosquito/?gclid=CJnf4J2I8KICFU5o4wodYSz1ng full wiki info on it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mosquito
Critics say that it discriminates against young people and infringes their human rights, but it definately moves the little scroats along I can confirm. 6 of us clubbed together and fitted one out of sight, the kids now hang around elsewhere, the effect was instantanious.Approach her; adore her. Behold her; worship her. Caress her; indulge her. Kiss her; pleasure her. Kneel to her; lavish her. Assert to her; let her guide you. Obey her as you know how; Surrender is so wonderful! My Aspie makes some rather dodgy noises an the neighbours complained a fair few times, it's part of his condition, he doesnt scream, just makes weird noises while jumping up and down, we told them about his condition but they still moan... again... what can you do???
I dont know how you cope, I thought my brood were bad enough haha.0 -
Living in a Cul-de-sac,we had the problem described by the OP.
I have no issues with kids playing and making noise, but its when the older children come along, and things start getting accidentally and then deliberately broken, the place became an extremely unpleasant place to live.
We contacted the council to try and get some "no ball games" signs up, but were told this was not possible. However the letter did get passed around, and eventually went to the local police. A very keen WPC found some law - "using the road in such a way to obstruct road users" to prevent ball games which at least moved some of the problem elsewhere.
However, like the OP, we solved the problem by moving away. And deliberately avoided buying in another cul-de-sac.0 -
I mentioned to a mate of mine about the problems with kids here and he said he knew straight away when I moved there it was going to turn out like that (new estate, cul de sac). I wish he'd said it at the time!! Of course it has taken years from build date for this to gradually happen, as people who have moved in with babies have seen the kids grow up.
There seems less parental supervision now, I know if I were ever allowed out to play on the streets my mum would be keeping an eye. But now they just slam the door and whatever happens goes on. Seems to be a new thing of everyone having rights to do what they like while those who just want a peaceful life have no rights at all!
One neighbour erected a baseball hoop and board opposite my house (not opposite their own of course!) which then acted as a magnet for all the kids to come along and aim poorly thrown balls in any direction. Still, late one night it disappeared never to re-appear and the problem moved elsewhere.0 -

LOL - I didn't noticed the dates!
So - do you live there?"Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?" (Douglas Adams)0
