So - do you live there?
No I don't live there! Doubt they would let me in with a baby, another on the way and 3 dogs!!Its a good idea though, people should be able to have this option! Not everybody loves listening to kids playing, doesn't make them a bad person!

Very true.
I did notice that there are age restrictions - I presume they are to avoid a situation whereby a couple, say in their thirties, buy a house and then change their minds about having children."Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?" I think that's probably the case, I think i read you had to be over 45 yrs old, so unlikely to have any children. They also only allow 1 dog per household! They do allow children to visit though and they can stay the night.:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

I personally wish the police in my area would do more with the foreign kids on my exs street shouting and screaming all day and sometimes well into the night too.MoneySpendingExpert0

Luckily, all of my neighbours are either elderly, single, or couples without children!
I would hate to have noisy children running around outside - my home is my sanctuary after dealing with children all day!
I do think the child-free village is a great idea for those people who like to lead a quiet life."Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?" (Douglas Adams)0 -
I still think if the kids are correctly parented then you wouldn't know they were there. It's those kids you don't notice when you're out and about. They're few and far between! Trouble is it only takes a couple of noisy kids to spoil a whole chunk of road.
We get a bit of screeching around 4.30 until about 7 out back, trouble is, new estate, we have a car park behind, a greened area to one side, and our own road out front. So sometimes we get it from three sides at once!0 -
If anyone sticks one of those Mosquito thingies up near me, I will take the thing off the wall myself. I'm 37 and can hear the one five streets away, installed on the side of an old people's development. It keeps me awake at night with its noise and must contribute to the sleep deprivation of a large number of babies and small children, never mind younger parents. I wouldn't be surprised if they were developed from a means of torture. They are atrocious things.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0

Well, I'll remember that for my degree studies in Acoustics. Especially the bit where I have been used as the guinea pig for the tutorial group precisely because I can hear sounds at lower and higher frequencies than the conventionally accepted range.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0

I'm with JoJo on this. One of my MIL's neighbours has installed one of these mosquito things and I wondered why I developed a bad headache every time I visited (I'm 38 btw). The last time we were there I took a walk around the street and found the thing, it was painful to walk past it on the other side of the road! While I defend their right to defend their own property, making people who live locally ill is not right!! It's perfectly legal for a child to walk by the house on the pavement and yet its considered ok for them to be punished while they do so.
Having said that, I am with the OP on this. It's not right for anybody to make noise which is disturbing the peace, whatever excuse is made (barring attack etc). My boys were not allowed to make excessive noise while playing in the garden or street and I don't see why anyone should have to put up with anything like that (noisy dog, car, child etc) it's only common sense and do-as-you-would-be-done-by.
It's only a game
