Lots of change so.....new diary!!!

Options
Hello :D

I used to have a diary before then everything in life changed so much that it became a bit pointless and so I stopped posting on it  Now that I have got my proper SOA up to date again and sorted after moving, I feel it is time to get back into this debt bashing malarky proper instead of just letting it tick over. I won't post the SOA though as I've already MSE'd it - so to speak!

I won't bore you with the history as you can always take a peek at my last diary for all those boring rambings :rotfl: BUT our situation now is there is me, OH and DS. We have been very lucky and have recently moved into a lush house rented off the HA. Our view from our garden is just amazing :D And I hate having to moan at the HA about things because I'm just really grateful  Anyway....

Our debt is just over 30k - see my siggy. :o Most of our debt stems from having to sell our house and the financial losses that caused. We also took some bad advice and as a result lost a bit more money we couldn't afford too  But we live and learn and it could have been worse. Our debt is manageable at the moment, everything gets paid and no one is banging on our door each day. BUT we want it gone so we can have a safety net and start saving for a very big deposit to buy our own house again. I know it is going to be a long road. Our debt free date is Nov 2013  Since joining MSE - we haven't added to our debt in anyway and it was closer to 37k. So we have done well already :j

I'm going to break it down into stages as it is easier to look at that way. So...the debt and saving plan is....

1/pay off cc and OD (1700 )
2/pay off 2 loans which allow overpayments
3/save up funds to pay off the loan that doesn't allow overpayments
4/pay my dad back (he has said that I don't *have* to pay him back but I want to if I can even though it will take me four years :rotfl: I've left it in the debt total though anyway as I still see it as debt altho my dad has wrote it off iyswim)
5/save up 3 months outgoings as a safety net
6/start saving for deposit on house

I'll admit I owe about 500 quid on a catalogue but its 0% and so i'm just letting it carry on until it's paid and then i'll close the account i promise :p It is included in my debt totals tho!

And because i'm rubbish I need to find 400 odd to pay my tax by Jan, owe 160 Nat Ins and have no savings for birthdays coming up (DS!!!) or xmas

I *AM* going to ebay like crazy, do car boots etc as we have lots of stuff that is worthy. It is just getting around it doing it.

This post is a bit long. Oops....I do have a habit of rambling lots. I'm aiming to post on here every day to try to keep the focus up. Mainly for my benefit I guess but if anyone wants to pop in feel free...and i'll promise i'll try and keep it interesting!

So...onwards and upwards! Day 1........

Good luck. Gosh, you have done very well already paying over £6,000 off already so keep up the good work. Keep posting on your diary.
  • Hi Babyhead
I have similar debts, and like you know I have to declutter, it's just the doing it gets in the way.
    See you on ebay :)

Just checked with Quidco and my £38 for my contents ins has tracked :j That's some towards something...probably my nat ins bill eventually.

I have also sent off for my phone cash back rebate 50 quid so that should be on its way soon :j So I guess that's half my nat ins bill paid already.

I was thinking about my tax in bed last night as I couldn't sleep due to antibios docs put me on thanks to piggy flu and chest infection. Only got another day to take them so it's not too bad and they do work as i feel better. Just blooming knackered though from lack of sleep  Anyway... if I break it down into weekly chunks - there are 27 weeks left until end of jan by my reckoning so thats about 15 quid a week i need to put by. hmm.......

My new SOA doesn't come into play until next saturday. I'm going to need a lot of NSD's as we have the grand total of 9.05 :o We don't actually *need* to get anything as have essentials but there is always something! I've included amounts for xmas, bdays, MOT etc and I WILL put these into my savings pots :D So come Dec that'll be our budget for xmas :rotfl: Good job i like a challenge :D DS's bday we have decided that he really doesn't need anymore toys and so we are going to get him a bed (hes nearly 2 and still in cot atm) so that's sorted in theory.

Bad news is I was expecting to get chq from my pt job today but hey ho didn't arrive. Need to bank it before the end of the week though! :o

Busy busy busy. Phew. Knackered. Going to do some cleaning now....

    well done for the NSD

I have only spent £10 today and that was on a mystery shop so I will get all of that back therefore I am classing it as a NSD (sort of!!)

i have been useless at the ebay thing so have set myself a challenge on my to do lists with a certain amount to sell. I havent been hitting my targets, but I have been listing which is a start for definate!!

I am sooooo knackered. Had a family do this morning. DS bit overwhelmed by all the people and that so didnt eat much and just ran around making mischief  he has completely crashed out now though. Just like me!!!!!!

Not had a NSD today. Funds left until 1/8 - £0.00  oh well. Least I know the next 5 days will be NSD's :rotfl: Should be okay - we have everything we need until then in theory.

Not much else to report am so tired and am finding it hard to type. Definately need an early night tonight. Going to watch some trashie tv then bed!
