I just need to adapt to your mindset as posted on the AF thread yesterday, that was a most excellent post.

Hi DC congratulations on your new job - how thrilling! It will be great to have a new challenge - I think you are doing the right thing having a week off in between as well tho!

I too got a new job this year - which was at a lower annual rate but compared with last year when I was in and out of work it is fab to have a steady income and I am close to home.... so does that make 3?

  • Morning

Got to get some thoughts and plans down.

As I'm turning a 'different corner' on the job front my mind has now become a jumbled, panicky bouncy castle scenario of things that have to be done within the next month.

Financial - I'm not going to be paid for six weeks from mid August to the end of September. I do have an overdraft facility that I've been quite good with since March, so that is the back up because leccy and gas are due in August. Along with the other 100's of DD's and commitments flying out of my account.

Wardrobe - my clothes situation is dire, current position doesn't require a particularly impressionable appearance, as a result any nice stuff I have rarely comes out and there isn't much of it. So I know I'm going to have to spend on some new whats the word ...capsule ? ....items. Same with shoes.

House. I've been putting little things off recently, like boiler service, finishing bathroom (goes back to December 2009 :o ) if I'm about to be a 9 - 5er these things need to be done. I need to start with a clean slate on the tidy house front too.

Shopping/mealplanning. The last thing I want to do on a Saturday morning is trapse around a supermarket. Routine for Mr T delivery has to be established for an early evening delivery in future.

So a month in which to get it together, hopefully ending with week off with DS2.

I'm sure I'll have another 3001 things in a few minutes.

Hi DC - could you check out matalan or primarni for clothes? Some of my best fitting suits are from matalan and are a fraction of the price of other places... Next have a sale on at the mo - you may be able to get some work tops for a fiver each?

  • SH, I thought of those trouble is I am 40+ miles from either of those, comes from being a bumpkin :)

Now I need your advice I posted on Employment forum on here,(rare for me to venture on to other boards) but you lot are really people to ask.

During interview the 'new boss' said Annual leave was 15 days not including bank holidays, and to 'save a few days for Xmas'. Now it settled in my head and as initial euphoria settled has begun to sow seeds of concern. Did a bit of research and mimimum legal entitlement is 20 days not including BH.

I really would like this job, and not sure how to handle this without flagging myself up as a troublemaker before I start.

    Advice appreciated.
    DC.

Don't know much about these things so I would only be googling anyway. I hope someone comes along with the answer, otherwise post over the the work board, if they're scary just run back here and shut the door tight and I'll be round later :rotfl: in all seriousness, good luck :)

Oh and come on back to the 'other' thread, miss you girl :)

    xx

  • LOL Jo, did post on there, were quite nice really, just got to be careful how you say stuff. Was looking for the tactful approach to new prospective employers, just don't know how you say 'that's not right' before you sign new contract. I really wish it didn't matter about entitlement but need to have some time with DS's.

Re other thread, will return for August, have been lurking but am being naughty..
