Morning
Finances still a work in progress. Ended up getting a bit down about everything yesterday afternoon. Shook myself up, walk with dog, snuggled up on the sofa (yes I know the sun was shining) with sons and watched a film, then X factor. Went to bed feeling much calmer, and remembering today is a new day !
Onwards...DC.

Remember that doing the finances, especially when you are trying to magic the figures closer together, is quite an emotional and mental exercise as well as a pure practical one. So, it is draining.
If it all goes well, then it can be quite energising, but if we are faced with lots of "extras" that we hadn't considered, then it can be exhausting. It is not just the fact that they have to be paid - we know that they have to be paid, so nothing new there, but it is often the fact that we had not remembered them, or were not being honest about them before, or could have planned for them but didn't, that is exhausting, because we can quickly attach the old negativity to them and feel a failure again.
So, you are right - honesty and a cup of tea is needed, but also positivity, and generally the right frame of mind. If you don't have that, then snuggling or going out for a walk, is absolutely the best thing to do, and the figures can wait an hour or so longer.
I hope you have a good day and if there is anything that I can help with, then shout - I won't be far away from the laptop today, I'm sure (apart from to tidy my dreaded utility room!).Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Thanks Hypno, reassurance is wonderful thing
I don't go in my utility room unless totally necessary. I have an old unwanted fridge/freezer in there that I've put on Freecycle three times and been let down all three times. It has no heating and in the winter the walls get damp, it is the most depressing part of my house, flat roof - say no more - and a general dumping ground, home to beasties. Ugh...
One day after the bathroom beautification it will become a glorious extension to the kitchen, that's just before I buy the holiday villa in Barbados.
See I got it all planned.DC.

It sounds like a good plan to me!
My utility is the first place people get to - because it is the door nearest to the driveway, it is the door we use to come in and out of the house, so as well as housing the usual utility stuff like washing machine, fridge freezer, bin, cat etc, it is the dumping ground (or one of them, I should say) for shoes, bags, general tosh.......on its way IN to the house, as well as a staging post for things that are making their way out to the garage such as tools, etc.
It is such an eyesore, and hazard to life and limb, and because it is the first place I see when I walk in, there is this automatic feeling of gloom when I get home from work.....also, people who come to visit, generally enter the house that way because it is closer than the front door, which adds a huge amount of cringe-factor to the whole thing.
It is a good size, it is heated, and it has plenty of cupboards to store things - what it doesn't have is an owner who is any good at keeping things tidySuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. Yep, similar story here. Being near side/back door walk straight in the kitchen and there it is to the left, the area to dump everything from footie boots to recycling paper, shredder, and the stuff people can't be bothered to put back in the shed, ie DH's tools..
Thankfully I can shut the door to it.
Beautiful day out there, dog is walked, world put to rights with fellow dog walkers.
Dare I paint a door frame today ?
Go in the cupboard under the stairs ( worse than utility room !) and sell it all ?
Actually I may be really daring and do both !DC.

Good for you DC...proactive and snuggled is all good!!
I watched the Xfactor too last night after the decorating and screaming into a pillow was over, OH is decidedly loving it too so we arent having to fight over the remote!Pay £15k by Xmas10 £1478.19/£15000[STRIKE]24/07/09[/STRIKE] present - loan - £8550 overdraft#1 - [STRIKE]£2516.87[/STRIKE] £0 credit card - [STRIKE]£1210 [/STRIKE] £0TOTAL - [STRIKE]£12276.87[/STRIKE] £9133.63:T0 -
More X factor tonight too Kirsten
That young American guy - Ethan - had me wishing I was 17 again.:o
Now Hypno has come up with an excellent plan. To rid the house of 100 things each weekend, with 10 weeks to Xmas that's 1000 things.
So I am going under the stairs - right now !DC.

100 things challenge off to a slow but productive start, recycled old tel directories, one cd and one book on Amazon. One old camera and lens cleaned up ready for ebaying later.
7/100 so far.DC.

That's a decent start - and you are "doing" things with yours - I am either throwing stuff straight out, or saying to OH "put it away, or I throw it out in 5 mins" do not pass go, do not ebay, do not put to one side to car boot one day never, do not collect £200 :rotfl:
So, I may have got rid of more items today, but you will end up better off at the end of it than I willSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0
