A day off, a house to attend to, lawns to cut, but first ironing with JK !
Cook a lasagne and an apple cake, learn some Italian, ebay some junk, all while waiting for electrician to attend to faulty light fitting.
Am so pleased with menu plan efforts. No popping to supermarket for milk and spending £20.
Played with snowball to increase monthly payments, looking at Jan 2013 :jcould I do this by November 2012 ??
Hope everyone is looking good for the day.DC.

Hope your day off is going as planned, it sounds like it's going to be a very productive day.
I agree, it's amazing how much money can be saved by effective menu planning.
Lasagne and apple cake sound yummy too.I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.0 -
Ok didn't manage to ebay anything, or learn any Italian.
I don't think my culinary skills are very good anymore.
I tried to sneak some finely chopped mushrooms in the lasagne but they were noticed by DS1 and declared I'd put to many veggies in it ! He's a fussy one. There was enough to left over to freeze but seeing as they both said it wasn't my best lasagne (well okay I used up the leeks and celery in the fridge in an effort to get the 2 of their 5 a day in them) the dog will be happy tonight.
Apple cake, I loved, I think they had a slice because they have some manners. Ah well 10/10 for effort.
Have to get a CV done two jobs in local paper one requires sales and purchase ledger experience. Years ago - say 20 - I was a junior in that department, all books and calculators though. Wonder if I can sell myself on the willing to learn factor ?
I had a long conversation with an old old friend yesterday, who reminded me of the person I was some 22 years ago. I actually need to be that person again. (With a few traits tamed of course!) I know life changes us, and this maturity thing has to be adhered but if I don't do something I fall into a rut again.
Let Friday begin...DC.

How about liquidizing the veggies into the tomato sauce - they wouldn't notice the healthy element to it then?
good luck with the continued job hunting. And excellent to read that the meal planning is making a difference - I think you can certainly bring your DFD by a month or two, but even if you don't, you are not far away from it in real terms.

Hi DF
I empathise totally, my dd doesn't like to eat all the veggies I like, she loves raw carrot surprisingly, but this winter I have a blender and other tricks up my sleeve to disguise the taste of veggies with say soups etc so she gets her 5 a day.
Also, I think we all change to a degree as we get older and life things happen. I look at how carefree my dd is now at the age of 6, and resent sometimes doing homework etc with her when she could be playing instead. I still can't believe the homework she gets at her age! That carefreeness is hard to keep in your persona as you get older isn't it? I'm certainly different too, but Im sure your friend would see changes in you that are v positive ones. You know now how to teach your children good money management, to be a caring parent, to give them a fabulous homelife with dog and all, you are strong, and persistent, and never give up, you know yourself more than perhaps 20 years ago, so whilst life has prob knocked you too, there are many things you are a better person for as well. Take care DF and have a good fri!My debts at LBM (2009)Grand Total £161,983.77.(Incs everything, mtge, cr cards, loans)

Thank you.
I agree carefreeness in our younger years comes naturally. But sometimes I think I worry for worrys sake. You know if I'd probably worry about not having anything to worry about ! It's negative and I don't want to do negative again.
Old friend knew me before, during and now after DH. He said some honest things. My self esteem has been hiding somewhere under the worry !
Off to catch upDC.

Morning
Apple cake was all of a sudden the best cake I'd ever baked and really hit the spot for Saturday morning breakfast - I'm reliably told. So all efforts not wasted !
Weather is so lovely I am sorely tempted to sit in the garden with Marian Keyes book. Want to buy The Now Habit as recommend elsewhere, love a good self help book.
Things are going to get a bit rocky over the next month, phone/internet bill, car insurance, car tax, roadside assistance, quickly followed by leccy/gas in early Nov. and then the dreaded payment for said carpark bump last week. Going to cost £250.
I'm not sure how I'm going to do this without using the emergency plastic. Tools required :
Tea, pen, paper, calculator and honesty.DC.
