Off to get the sticky

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Friday 24th July! This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good

Good Morning

Had an early night so up early this morning which is good as I am just about to start the ironing - I will get it cleared this morning.

Off to see Harry Potter this afternoon, have some Odeon vouchers from Xmas which should cover 80% of the cost, then have some tesco clubcard vouchers for La Tasca so off there after for dinner so no cooking for me :j

Tea last night was lovely so another thrifty meal to be added to the menu plan. Am definately seeing it in my shopping bills - that remind me need to update the Grocery Challenge.

House needs a quick tidy later but other than that all good.

Have a great Friday.
x

Oh and nearly fotgot - put through a Lakeland order last night - got some bits I needed but also slipped a couple of Xmas pressies in there too - I am on a roll :rotfl:

    Morning everyone

I've been out most of the day. Went shopping. :D I could have really gone to town but got a few things that I needed and not want I wanted. Bought a pair of jeans, shoes & a diary for myself. You have no idea how long that took. I am such a ditherer. I went to all the shoe shops first to look, and went back to the first one I visited. Ditto with the rest. :D I bought DH 2 pairs of jeans. They were easy & took all of 1 minute.

DH started a new job today, it's afternoon shift. 2 - 10pm. He'll get home around midnight. I shall miss him over the tea/night time but on the plus side I have the TV all to myself. :D

Haribo Happy Birthday :bdaycake: Enjoy it old girl. xx
Taplady Happy belated birthday for yesterday.
Essex Girl Enjoy HP. We visited the big hall when we went to Oxford.

Hope you all have a lovely day & <hugs> to those that need them. Byeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    Morning all :hello:

Thanks Aussie. Hope DH gets on well in the new job.

Happy Birthday also to Hermoine and SunnyGirl (hope you're better x)

Just a quickie as we need to leave to catch the ferry in a little while. It's an hour and a half drive to get there.

OS wise I have packed a picnic and hung out a load of washing but I'm hoping that's all the OS I will do today. :D No prezzies yet as I can't seem to rouse anyone so have just had a lovely coffee in the garden in peace and quiet. ;)

Managed to get more rhubarb from the plant last night so made a lovely rhubarb and strawberry tart. It's so nice to be able to pick your own in your garden.

    Anyway....back tommorrow night.:D

    Take care everyone.

    Haribo x

    Morning everyone.
Busy day ahead today. Got some errands I have to run this morning, get a present and a couple of birthday cards.
Dropping kids off with my mum as me and H are off to London. No not to see a show (unfortunately) but my H is going to be in Men's Health Magazine and he's having a photo shoot. He submitted his story on weighloss and they have a page dedicated to reader's stories. Am so proud of him. He has lost a great deal of weight and kept it off and although he's slightly embarrassed about it all I am well chuffed he's going to be in the magazine. So very little OS will be on the cards as his photo shoot isn't until 4pm so heaven only knows what time we will get out of London in rush hour traffic. We are driving as they pay his mileage expenses so that means I can come with him too!
Shall miss the kids but it will be nice for me and H to have a few hours together. Just hope that's it's not solely spent sitting on the M40 on the way home :rotfl:

Haribo, Sunnygirl and Hermione - Happy Birthday, have a great day

Essex-girl - sooooo jealous you are off to see Harry Potter. Me and my neighbour (another grown woman I might add) are going to go and see it sometime soon.

Aussielass - enjoy hogging the TV ;)

Not caught up with yesterdays thread so hugs to all that need them.
Have a good day all, OS or not :D

Its pouring down here , OH has the day off as his boss ordered the wrong materials for the job they are on, so will leave him a list to be getting on with ;), him and dd can have a good tidy round.

The blackbird who was nesting in the garden has either been attacked by a cat, or thrown the babys out, there were two dead baby ones in the garden this morning, its very sad, OH had to move the dead babies before little dog ate them :o

Fish new spuds and peas/ sweetcorn for tea tonight we are trying Basa for a change, was on special offer this week, and sainsbugs are delivering.

I will then be relaxing with a glass of two in honour of the Birthday girlies.;)

Good morning everyone. Happy Birthdays to Sunny Girl, Haribo and Hermoine :bdaycake::bdaycake::bdaycake:

Congratulations to Mr Bitsy - that is a fantastic achievement. He shouldn't be embarrassed; he should be really proud, and what an encouragement to others.

Redruby - we have suicidal thrushes here. We've had five fly into the conservatory windows over the last two weeks. Only one survived and was able to fly off once he'd recovered. I'm going to try and find some cut-outs of birds of prey - apparently, if I stick them on the windows, it will stop the thrushes flying too close. They're such beautiful birds; it's awful to find yet another one dead on the lawn.

Dinner is undecided but will probably be something simple with chips. DH has been working until late all week and I'm fed up having to cook and clear up so late in the evenings. Still, it's the weekend tomorrow.

I have a pile of ironing that's been looking at me for days, so I really must get it done today.

Hope you all have a good day.

Well they work 6 months ahead so he "should" be in the January 2010 issue which goes on sale in December. Why do they do that
Anyway the only thing I am NOT looking forward to is driving round London. Birmingham is bad enough but at least I know my way around there :rotfl: We have to be in Soho and since I am chief navigator (and yes I most certainly can read a map ;)) I like to have a route planned BEFORE we get down there!
I wonder if it's better to park at a train station and travel on tube rest of the way.......hmmmm off to google some maps.

Didn't realise it was SunnyGirl & Hermoine's Birthday as well when I posted before so HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

Bitsy Will he be fully clothed? :D That's a great achievement.
Ruby I wouldn't touch Basa if you paid me a million dollars. :p Stick to Haddock. Shame about your birdies.

Well other than let the girls out for a run I've done nothing major since I was on last. I'll go and sort out tea and might have a wine. :D
