:hello: Hello, I'm back! Had a big power cut in this area since Monday - ours was off altogether from Monday lunchtime to Tuesday morning, then we had power on a rota basis for 3 hours on, 6 hours off, but a lot of people had no power at all until yesterday. I was so glad we had a gas cooker! And at least we had clean water, unlike all the people who were in the flooded areas last year. Both DDs were ok - DD1 lives outside the affected area, and DD2's power was only off for about alf an hour.
I haven't read today's thread yet, though I speed-read yesterday's, tired mum - so sorry about your car being written off, but redruby - glad your van was!
Fairy Elephant - Huge (((HUGS))) to you and your Mum, such a distressing situation xx
taplady - Happy Birthday! have a lovely evening.
halight :mad::mad: at DWP saying you're fit to work! The trouble is, the medical doesn't take account of conditions like yours - it's based on whether you can do enough of the things they ask about, so if you can do most or all of them, you can't score enough "points" under their system. (People with things like severe heart disease have been known to have sililar prolems.) Of course you must appeal, and I should think the Appeal Tribunal will be suitably unimpressed with them! So sorry about the bad headache too, I'm sure the added stress doesn't help!
Will go and read the thread now.0 -
MSD :T:TGreat news re Tristan:T:T

Didn't get a lot done - rang a car dealer to sound them out re scrappage scheme, seems lots of small cars are out of stock as they're popular & cheap, esp with scrappage money. Got some cash to put down, so with old car handed in I might have only £3500 - 4000 to do as some sort of loan, OK for a new car, if I can get one, that is!
Toddler helped to dig up some spuds for my mum - will drop them off later.
DS2 not back from driving lesson yet - was due to finish at 3, so either he's getting more time for his money or they've crashed
Homemade pizza & salad for tea, making some flapjack in a minute, also got some rice pud chilling in the 'fridge. Got a couple of Bramleys cheap the other day so will bake crumble with some of last year's brambles from freezer after tea, ready for tomorrow.
Mum lent me dad's breadmaker, so going to have a go with that tonight - got a mix she gave me as well, so will try to set it so we've fresh bread for breakfast. Could be a good way of getting teenage DS out of bed a bit sooner! :0
Also doing food stocktaek after tea - said I was doing it last night & it didn't happen!July 2024 GC £0.00/£400

Afternoon All
:beer::jMany Happy Returns Taplady:j:beer:
Glad to hear about Tristan MSD
Hope you can get some better pain relief from the docs Halight.
We have had a lovely sunny morning at a very nice park. Kids loved it there even DD as there was a massive rope contraption that she could climb right to the top of. It was right next to the canal as well so very pleasant.
Have just cooked some rice in the slow cooker and am waiting for it to cool then will refrigerate and then have no excuse but to get on with the ironing. Unfortunatly Midsummer Murders did not sky+ last night so cant watch that. Anyway will aim to get at least 50% done.0 -
Afternoon all
been MIA for a few days, too much going on sorted now I think,
Went out for a lovely lunch yesterday with friends one of those places you get a help yourself salad first, and very nice it was too.
Sun is out now but its been a bit temperamental today, in out in out cant make its mind up, my poor baskets are looking very sad and bedraggled
Had chicken sarnies for lunch, and boiling potatoes for Shepherds Pie for Dinner tonight, found 2 Weight watchers caramel crunch desserts in the freezer for afters.

Afternoon all,
Happy birthday Taplady, enjoy every minute of being special.
MSD...glad that you have had news of Tristan
Halight....Sorry that you are having such headaches, hope doc can sort them, good luck with your appeal.
NPM....take care of you, hope that it is not SF.
JackieO...sorry that Bono upset you...not one of his fans but to be fair to celebs in general I think that they donate money freely to charity....thing being that they have so much more than most of us, they don't miss it and can still afford their fancy cars etc. I have slowly got down to a 1.2 car and intend going to 1l if I can next time around...don't see the point of big cars but then that's just me!
Going to have Tonkatsu pork today....thin boneless chops, floured, egged and breadcrumbed and fried 3 mins each side, will serve with broccoli and sauce ( from a bottle bought in Asian supermarket).
Washing just saved from the last shower, not much more to be done now, will do it over weekend when DD2 and her littlies are away, love to have them here, but they make a lot of noise and untidiness!
Have a good evening all

Meanmarie - those pork chops sound lovely, think will give that a try I just love pork chops.
Meant to say earlier that I ordered some the sale Body Shop gifts that were in Martins email - ordered them yesterday and chose free delivery - should have been 3-5 days but they came today - really nice sets - have put them in my pressie drawer so have made a start for (whispers) Christmas :j:j
Am trying to be good but Lakeland have just sent me an email with their Autumn stuff in, I do need a couple of bits but I must be strong!:rolleyes:0 -
Evening all!
Wow, wild weather here, really thundery and sudden torrential rain, then sun! And just had lightening as well! Washing will not be getting hung out today at all!
Have spent the day sorting out dd2, she's off to Spain tomorrow morning with her best friend, not just the two of them, they are going with her friend's family! Apparently it is very hot out there, so have dumped loads of sun lotion that I bought in the sale in her case, decluttering and protecting her, how's that for multitasking!
First day with all the kids off, I have cleaned the kitchen, stardrops last forever, miraculous stuff, I'm always rattling on about it to friends! Done the bathrooms, and hoovered everywhere except the kids bedrooms, which they are meant to be tidying! dd2 made a sterling effort before she went and dd3 has finished their room off, well mostly! ds has cleared and tidied and even washed up all the crockery that was lurking and possibly growing new strains of bacteria! Unfortunately, dd1 who's room is being used next week by my friend, is extremely reluctant to clean, apparently if she went to a hotel that looked like her room she'd complain about the maid - hmmm! My question had been how would you feel if you were staying in a room that was in such a state! Think some kind of action is required - her dad is staying here at the weekend, so will get him to nag her to death, he hates mess!
Have done the usual washing, and cooking, and even got around to wiping over some dusty surfaces, well ok, I had to do that cos the rain had blown through the windows and washed some of the dust off, so it looked silly besides being damp!
Lunches were sarnies here all round, and dinner for the kids has been sausages, chips and salad. Sausages are from Mr T's, they are doing their finest ones at 3 packs for £6, and now do cumberland, lincs and pork and apple chipolatas, so 12 sausages per pack, ideal for smaller kids. My dinner will be hm goats cheese and red onion pizza with oh, accompanied by a nice chilled bottle of white wine - children will be dispatched to their rooms so that we can enjoy some peace!
Not caught up yet, will attempt to do so now, hope everyone has a lovely evening and hugs to anyone in need xx
ps just seen your post essex-girl, wish I hadn't, now I know I'm gonna be drooling over lakeland stuff! x
Edit:
Not got very far, but many happy returns Taplady, and I hope your oh has returned safely now cheapskate! xGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Hi all:j:j,
Thanks for all the kind words
I not long got back from the docs. He would not give me any new pills said the ones i take are very strong anyway. He did say that i do need to see my consultant before the 11 of Aug what when my appointment is. He is going to try and get me seen sooner. So that will be good. It was worth going just for that. He also took my BP and pulse. Both were high. I did tell him that id been under a bit of stress the last few weeks because of the DWP Which he said hed get me a letter done to seed them.:T So a bit more good news i hope that it helps my case.
He also wonts me to have a compleate range of blood tests done. so im off to get them done in the mornming.
Change of plan for dinner tonight.
We are now haveing bacon cut into strips, with choped up garlic sosage, mushroom, pepper.onion and pasta all mixed together without sause.
The pasta is that tag stuff long flat strips. Very nice.
Well i hope that everone has a good evening
enjoy yourselfs all:j:j:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0
