    hey all, happy thursday ...

jackie o i was offered free tickets to go see u2 now i have to admit i do like there music but i knew bono was a preacher so i declined the tickets ....the fact that a woman got bundled out of a stadium for waving a flag like that is a bit ironic considering he was going on about the woman in myanmar (see he cant even get the name of the country right... it isnt called burma no more and hasnt been for years) ...i know of the women (Aung San Suu Kyi) he is talking about (funny how they mention her all the time when there are loads) very intelligent and caring person have seen interviews etc with her but to stop a person holding a flag having freedom of speach in an apparently democratic country whilst shouting for the rights of a women in myanmar just makes me giggle

...but you know what a gig isnt the place to say it ...and as for poverty in the third world well i really really could go on a rant about that one but dont think i should lol

today is nice here it's dry looks kinda cloudy but not cold i think i am going to be spending the day trying to figure out how to get this os lifestyle working for me so far it doesnt seem to ...and i have to get it right ...

have a good one you all

p.s halight well done on your appeal

Just popping in to say hgballoons.gifto Taplady and I hope you have a great day, you deserve it!

Also - I don't have much information, but my friend in Montana sent me a couple of lines to say she had spoken to Tris and he seemed fine. No more info than that but OMG what a relief to hear!!

Thank you all for your help and support and I shall be back in a mo with my real post.

    Afternoon all.

    Happy Birthday Taplady.

Halight best of luck with your appeal. Make sure you keep a copy of the form before you send it off.

MSDiva glad you've heard some news at last.

We've just had a missive from MK Council; they're going to be starting this food-waste collection malarkey. Bit of a waste of time with us- I can't remember the last time we threw any food away. Even peelings etc go in the compost bin, now I have it. Oh well, the upside is they're going to collect garden waste for free from September - up til now if you wanted it taken away you had to pay extra.

I need to make an apple pie and a loaf of tomato bread this afternoon. I dunno, I seem to spend half my life baking. And there's only the two of us here.

What to do for tonight's dins is another matter entirely. I'm fresh out of ideas.

Hope everyone's having a good day; ((((HUGS)))) to all who want/need one.

    Afternoon OS friends! hi.gif

Redruby - Great news on the car/van situation and sorry to hear about your doggie... we had to spend out over £470 last year on our cat with no guarantee she would get better but it was worth it.
Webitha - nice to see you posting and don't worry, we all need help now and again
Sunnygirl - so sorry you are feeling so poorly.
Halight - I had a medical for my IB and the Dr reported that I was fine for work when I could only just walk across a room without needing to sit down! I rang up and complained and while they made me wait the full 11 weeks, they did back date it all. Aparently an appeal takes 11 wks though I have no idea why. I DID get my GP to write a letter for me too so do try that and even ask the hospital who do your scans etc if they can write something maybe?
FairyE - Sorry to hear about your Dad *hugs*. Keep taking it easy and good luck with the scan.
Bitsy - I agree with you 100% about Bono.

Spend about 3 hrs in the garden yesterday tea time and checked all the brassicas for slug damage. Thankfully my broccolli are still looking good and growing though I have lost one sprout plant almost entirely. Everything else is looking really verdant and lush which is great.

I asked my OH to put up my new plastic greenhouse, only to find that one of the struts had a split in it. My OH gaffer taped it but then as he was putting the rest together he obviously didn't know his own strength as he split another one! So I rang customer services and spoke to a very nice man - mentioned how disappointed I was with the quality of the item and how I felt let down by the company and his offer to pick it up and refund it changed to him refunding me and actually letting me keep the greenhouse! So although we have had to gaffer tape a few bits I do have a working greenhouse for nothing! How very OS.. *chuckles*

My OH managed to get some bargains by going to Morrisons just before closing last night - Blackberries for 9p, cottage cheese for 1p and some bagged veg for 20p. so corned beef pastryless quiche is on the menu for tomorrow. Tonight we have the remains of our big cottage pie and we shall use the cheap veg to accompany it.

I want to say again thank you all so very much for the kind thoughts for Tristan. I am hoping I will get more info over the weekend but at least I know he is still with us.

hugs.giffor anyone who would like or needs one.

  • Just heard on the news that you will soon be able to go onto the internet or call a help number to see if your symptoms are indeed Swine Flu. It should be live by 1500 today. Then they will arrange for you to have the tamiflu if necessary. Though the tamiflu sounds almost as bad as the flu itself.

Most Drs interviewed on the news seemed to agree that for most people, paracetamol and keeping warm just like you would for the normal flu does just as well as taking tamiflu with its side effects!

Just thought someone might find it useful.

    Hello all

Managed to make it on here two days in a row - minor miracle! Toddler in bed, actually asked to go for a nap  so brief spell on here & then pick something small from my huge to do list. 17 yr old just gone for his first driving lesson, trying to be nonchalant about it, but I can tell he's dead excited!:rotfl:
The massive de-clutter is going really slowly - the new baby's due in 12 weeks & I'd promised myself that I'd do at least one blitzing job per day before he/she arrives, more if they were little jobs, but I'm not doing very well!
My spuds aren't doing too badly (for a first-timer) & will dig some up for my mum this afternoon, blackberries look like being a bumper crop & DS now has his staff discount card for supermarket where he works, so we'll be able to save a little every time we go. Decided to put in a jar all the cash I save that way & see how much I save by Christmas - not intending to spend any more than usual, so it really will be a saving. :D
Right, off to do something useful & have another cuppa - happy birthday taplady, hugs & kisses to anyone in need - see you later.
    A xo
