i ment it in the way that i was the problem not the drink. the reasons i drank were all i mentioned above. which i call alcoholism. you can call it being human but my mrs dont suffer from the things i do. or do the people i know that aint alcoholic. if i share some things with my mates sometimes, they look at me gone out. but if i share with an alcolholic then he/she can relate.
Alcohol was a symptom of the spritual side of the illnes. if i had'nt drank i would have gone through life cross addicting to diffirent things work, sex, chasing money.,etc.
If you dont wanna go to AA, it's your desion i didnt WANT to go. i wanted to do it myself. but the main reason that i see to go is that it could save the life and a whole lot of misey for those around an alcoholic.
the AA program is about being willing to go to any lenghts. and if you aint prepared to do that it will not work. it requires action and faith. which is not all that easy but it is a simple program. it has worked for thousands of people where all other methods failed.
Out of interest apart from al, who has done incredibly well.(cake in a month or so al?) who else is sober on this board more than say a month? me im just coming up to 7months.If i upset you don't stress, never forget that god aint finished with me yet.0 -

I dont want to mention AA again except to say i do not think it is helping my sister i have never heard her so close to the edge.
being close to the edge is a long way from going over the edge and drinking. i thinkIf i upset you don't stress, never forget that god aint finished with me yet.0 -
with due respect lewt you have no idea about my sister. I do, and she is not an alcoholic i feel she is being brain washed into believing she is. I have never seen her so unhappy.
I actually got offended the other nite because tbh, i found yours and habibi tone somewhat moralistic when it comes to preaching about aa. Its rather like the mormons who knock on your door. They never listen to anyone elses faith but their own. I actually believe you have done brilliantly and admire that. I choose my own path in life and do not have to account to anyone how much i choose to drink.
I will never believe i am an alcoholic i have a drink problem but i know this. For me if it hadnt been drink, it would have been drugs, gambling i have always believed i have a huge self destruct button which i constantly want to press. My weakness turned out to be alcholol but it could have been anything else really.0 -
There is that saying pot calling the kettle black: You accuse me of thinking for others, however, you constantly tell people to go to aa, never ever listening to their background. It dosent work for everyone and while it has for you, you are not everyone. Btw i am debating with you and mean no rudeness so i hope you understand that.0

omg...... that post could have been written by me a year ago.
how you choose to intrepert posts is your thing jayne.
i didnt claim to know your sister i wrote that being close to the edge is not like being over the edge.
When i first went into the fellowship i was unhappy, morning my old life. has she got a sponser is she working the steps? when we take alcohol out of our lifes we need to replace it with something. thats what the program is there for.
I'm quite happy to listen to other ways of doing it. if you know of another way please let me know. heaven knows i treid all i could think of.
i asked about the ammount of clean time as i was interested in how people where getting on with quitting drinking. you dont have to account to me or anyone your right. i thought that you wanted to stop? is it not what you said when you came on here?
My addiction can also show up in any way like yours. i have to remember to say my prayers about gambling and lust also over eating in the morning or they can very easily show up in the day. my mum used to say i had no stop button but a self descrute button. i can change that on a day to day basis today. And i have a good life today i have bad things happen still it aint like i got clean and everything got 100% better and stayed that way but today i can deal with it as i have tools to do that that i never had before. If i upset you don't stress, never forget that god aint finished with me yet.0 -

of course. i surgest people to go to AA. and if i have (which i prob have) told people then i should not. all i can do is rely my experiance to the topic being disscussed. i aint to hot at written conversation.
your comment that "i dont think AA would work for you rose07" i dint think you can really have that thought as you cant know what will work for others. espeacilly if you have never been yourself. If i upset you don't stress, never forget that god aint finished with me yet.0 -
again lewt there was a reason i said that to Rose and again you dont listen. I have never advised anyone else not to go to AA. There was a particular problem with Rose that meant she should not, at least at this moment in time go to AA. Please trust me on this one:)0

Your written conversation is fine, i dont always understand what you are trying to say, but i can feel the pain that you have been through by some of the things you have shared with us.
The analogy for me of telling everyone to go to AA is like a Doctor writing the same prescription for each individual he/she sees. Even though they suffer from different ailments and show different symptoms. You cant just do a blanket prescription. Not everyone is an alcoholic sometimes their life just gets messed up for a while. They might need alternative help such as seeing a psychritist. I worry that by telling them to go to AA YOU are pre-determining that they are an alcoholic, when really they need other help.0 -
but if people are having a problem drinking then go to AA to sort that and if they need anything else after at least they would be able to diffiranciate between whats caused by drink and whats not.
Ps, can i nick youe old sig?If i upset you don't stress, never forget that god aint finished with me yet.0 -
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I totally give up with you, you just wont listen:D I am sat here chuckling. Lewt you would make a brilliant mormon and AA are lucky to have someone so loyal. Yes you can have my old sig....for just making me laugh.0
