I am happy to say I am in less pain today...that will teach me to be in any way 'houseproud' when I'm of sick!...still sore:o still full of cold etc though....

    Can you explain please?

Do you mean you wanted to give him a reason to criticise you? Because that way it allowed him to drink more?

He was very critical of everyone and everything, and also controlling with very fixed ideas of what was right and wrong (even quite trivial things like not allowing sugar in porridge - he was Scottish). So my hitting or throwing things was another thing to be critical of, and to bring up again when we were arguing.

It was such a dysfunctional relationship in many ways, only I couldn't see it at the time!

Lewt - I like the bit about the postman being late, so I`d better have a drink. Another saying I`ve heard at AA is " If a normal person wakes up in the morning and finds a puncture, they `phone the RAC. We `phone the Samaritans". I`m taking 2 of my daughter s to London tomorrow (youngest`s 16th) so I can get a few meetings in while I`m there.
The strangest meeting I went to was near Kings Cross. Half the speakers were from Glasgow and nearly all the rest from Belfast. The only person I understood was a German on her holiday. Still glad I went though.

it could be anything suf. the smallest things where ordeals to me. i am so glad i dont have the head trouble i used to. all that sitting there trying to work out what was wrong with me. seeing illness's on here, or the tele and thinking thats what i had. all the things i thought i had are just part of alcoholism as i understand it today. and i am soo gratefull to have that understanding today, i remember when i was i treatment it was the first time in my life that i felt part of something and never felt less than anybody.

Tonight 6.15pm - 2 tickets to a screening of a film called ‘Sleeping Dogs’ at the Soho House in Old Compton Street. The film is rated 18.

If anyone would like them, let me know and I’ll send details back – btw at least one person needs to be a female I think because they are reserved in a female name, lol
