    evening jayne and everyone else

Good idea jayne and it seems to be working for you.
I passed a hurdle today with the cigs, did alot of driving without smoking. Not so bothered about it today, nor the drinking, had a bad moment earlier at about 2pmish when driving home, did the one minute at a time and seemed to just forget about it. I do have a concentration level of about 10 minutes, so maybe its that. :)

anyone who is interested in these: www.unhooked.com home of lifering secular recovery: there is a link to lsruk which is a self help web community for people in the uk who wish to not drink and it is a secular organisation (non-religious) for anyone who has struggled with aa and the 'higher power' approach.

Yep and you have to do, literally one minute at a time. If you want to see how easy it is to stop trying, take a look back through the threads, loads of people all with good intentions posting, trying to give up. All want to, not many post now.
I'm not saying they have to post if they have managed to stop, but, well it doesn't sound good does it?

I don't know how that need is going to feel tomorrow jayne, but I bet you would like to find out.

Hi ruth, looks an interesting site, thanks for the details, how did you beat alcohol? Or how did you manage to stop drinking?

    Great timing Ruth:D
  • Hi al, beer, wow ruth that is brilliant how did you manage to do that.
  • well beer (what a tag eh?) i had been drunking for too long, and i stopped cos i couldnt take it any more, i joined up with the guys on lsruk and went to aa, and hated the aa cos it always made me want a drink after (he he he). its moral support really. doc helped with some medication and i last had a drink on feb 15th year before last. best decision i ever made. since i stopped i got it together to live in new zealand for a few months, and travelled the world for the rest of that year. it was/ still is occasionally very hard but i still laugh about how far ive come (literally!). could not have done it without my pals on the 'list'. i wish anyone here thinking of stopping or stopped for good the very best of luck. we are a minority after all and we need to look after each other. it's a wide open road.
