Will be thinking of you tonight x
Don't be embarrassed by anything I think we are all the same. Unfortunately I wouldn't need to read old posts to remind me of what I'm like when i've had a few too many. There is a certain bar in manchester that I cannot walk past without cringing, I keep my head down and move quickly!
Thanks for your kind words.0 -

I tend to suffer from 'selective amnesia'. I forget all the things I do wrong when i've been drinking.
People are starting to cotton on that I drinnk a bit too much - my mum keeps asking if I've been overdoing it.
Very rarely don't overdo it when I drink, I need to learn to control it better.Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -

Do you think you will ever control the drinking? once alcoholics have one the physical alergy kicks in which causes(once fully developed) a craving to strong for the brain to control.... i could never control my drinking, i'd try every time but fail.If i upset you don't stress, never forget that god aint finished with me yet.0 -
As I head towards my 30th week, I can happily say, no issues with drink:)
Still stressed and unsure how to cope/make it go away.
But not getting worse:p
I'm now fairly sure alcohol isn't the cure. Please take note;)
How are others doing:cool:0 -
Hi, haven't posted for a few days. Things not too bad at the moment - OH starts a new job next week which I hope will improve his self confidence - he certainly seems better at the moment. Trying to get him to get some proper help - although he did this earlier this year and now considers himself "cured" in that he no longer has an alcohol problem ... no such thing I think but I know he has to do it for himself.
One thing, and i apologise if this has been covered before but I am asking as the wife of a OH in denial - he has definitely cut down on the amount he drinks - but we had a night out last night and he had about 4 pints and was really embarassingly drunk. From what I have researched about this, it could be that he has lost tolerance to alcohol - or the alternative is that he is still secretly drinking and this tipped him over the edge. I really really want to beleive the first alternative - has this happened to anyone else???

To be honest, I'd be interested in opinions on this as well:o0

hi ginger i dont know what to say when did he stop drinking this year? as a recovered alcohlic and one who knows many others too i can only comment from my side. i could not contorl my drinking. i used to drink sercertly when i told my wwife that i was only having a few. which at the time she was happy with coz she thought i was controlling it. it was kinda like a green light for me to drink then once i'd had one i could'nt stop no matter how hard i tried. this seems like its all coming out wrong. have you ever heard of al anon?If i upset you don't stress, never forget that god aint finished with me yet.0

This is my opinion only!! do not go and confront him saying this bloke said etc, so you must have etc, OK?
Having been up and down more times than a ferret down a rabbit hole, I know a bit about this.
Yes you do lose tolerance to alcohol, if you take someone who doesn't drink and give them 3 pints of beer, they are likely to be tipsy/drunk, give a recovering alcoholic (he will be for the rest of his life) 4 pints and he's likely to be tipsy/drunk, but embarassingly drunk? I would say not.
Don't forget, people can act drunk, even when they are not. Sometimes from peer pressure, sometimes just because they are having a good time.
I've been accused by the inlaws on more than one occasion of being out of my tree, when I haven't touched a drop all night.
Just my two cents worth.
