    Hi AC, I read your post with interest. I cannot and will not try to tell you what to do. If I could walk 1 mile in your shoes then perhaps I could. (but I am a man with big size 10s :) ). I will share with you ,however, what was told to me. It was suggested to me that, as I had admitted to myself that I suffered from this 3-fold illness, I was possibly not capable of making life changing decisions at that time. It was suggested to me that I postponed these decisions until I had made a greater recovery. I did not like these suggestions at the time but I reluctantly agreed and today I am very glad that I did. Whatever you decide to do I would suggest that you can and will cope if you decide that your sobriety is dependant on staying away from 1 drink for one day at a time rather on what decision you make. I truly wish you well and if you don't mind I shall remember you in my prayers. (also Mr AC)

    :wall: Hi, everyone k is back on the booze again, usual aggressive mood swings and orders - it does feel better this month knowing I can get it of my chest on here and I feel a bit calmer this month, tho, I suppose I am lucky that it isnt constant, a few weeks of normality - and a few weeks of boozing, and I dont have the horror stories that some people have on here, he can be very aggressive if I get annoyed with him, but has never actually ever hit me and he is great when he is sober, it gives me hope reading other posts that it can be conquered even tho it isnt easy and I have to get my head round that he cant help it and it is an illness but he doesnt seem to want to stop it - so here goes my screeeaaammmm - thanks everyone for letting me rant !

    New every morning is the love
    our wakening and uprising prove;
    through sleep and darkness safely brought,
    restored to life and power and thought.

    New mercies, each returning day,
    hover around us while we pray;
    new perils past, new sins forgiven,
    new thoughts of God, new hopes of heaven.

    If on our daily course our mind
    be set to hallow all we find,
    new treasures still, of countless price,
    God will provide for sacrifice.

    Old friends, old scenes, will lovelier be,
    as more of heaven in each we see;
    some softening gleam of love and prayer
    shall dawn on every cross and care.

    The trivial round, the common task,
    will furnish all we ought to ask:
    room to deny ourselves; a road
    to bring us daily nearer God.

    Only, O Lord, in thy dear love,
    fit us for perfect rest above;
    and help us, this and every day,
    to live more nearly as we pray.

    Thanks Traf :kisses3:

    Being someone with an addictive personality, all or nothing, same with this bloomin site:eek: , I'm feeling really quite good. Would still like to have a drink, just like I'd still like a cigarette. Both of which upon sampling, no doubt would put me off again;)

    For anyone reading this for the first time. I was drinking up to a litre of vodka a day, driving drunk, in fact probably drunk for a continual six months, at least. And drunk every night for about 20 years:o

    Beer2006 started a thread, I saw it, read it. Thought this bloke has a point. Stopped drinking, fell off the wagon, big, big time. Been to a councellor and had lots of "chats" with lots of people:eek: Off line and on here.

    If you do have a problem, yourself, family member, OH, please read more of this thread, nearer the start. If the old thread still exists, try that. If you want to PM some of the people on here. But do something, TODAY:rolleyes:

    Al Mac has gone off on one of his rambles again:D Thanks all:D

    Ramble away Al, you make lots of sense :D

    I'm another one who lived in a vodka bottle :o Different reasons but the end result was the same :(

    There is a lot of help around, if people are ready to accept it. Both conventional/medical and in other places. Chatting to, and receiving support from people on here has helped me more than any 'recognised' treatment ever did :)
