    but are you OK with split infinitives? :rotfl:

    They don't bother me that much actually. A split infinitive doesn't make for an unclear sentence on the whole. And sometimes, for example with 'To boldly go', the sentence is more powerful because of the split infinitive.

    The possessive apostrophe missing or placed incorrecty from road/street signs. For example, 'Queen Victorias Walk' and 'John Lennons' Way'. Why can't the local councils get it right? Hmmm, perhaps on reflection...

    Another thing that annoys me is when people say 'I done it'. :mad:

    No dear, you DID it.

    So it's not just writing skills that seem to be on a decline, it's verbal too.

    But, to get back to the OP, I still wouldn't make a point of correcting someone in a post.
    I might have a mutter under my breath about 'education' but that's as far as I'd go.

    People who say "pacifically" instead of specifically.People who really think a mural IS called a murial (we have Hilda Ogden to thank for that).

    'Original Poster' or 'Original Post'. Refers to the first post or poster in a thread.

    Apostrophes are the one thing that can wind me up, guaranteed. There is a letting agency on the way to town which has a giant banner on the wall saying 'LANDLORD'S WANTED!' What, just one? I have to go past it every day as well, drives me mad! :mad: Also punctuation errors on shop signs, you think for something like that you'd get it spellchecked?

    Oh heck - while I occasionally make mistakes (I'm dyslexic and type on the world's laggiest computer), apostrophes drive me nuts. I've been known to stand by chalkboard (not allowed to call them blackboards) menus in pubs and slightly rub out all the misplaced apostrophes in every word that ends in an s (chip's, burger's etc etc) on more than one occasion. I also jump up and down and start gibbering if kids hand in work with the apostrophe machine gunning in!

    I can read most things though - having to decipher the writing of very littlies is good training for internet forums and I don't tend to pick grammar and spelling to bits as mine is pretty lazy on the internet anyway (as long as people are able to use the English language correctly in situations where it's required).

    DS = Dear/Darling Son
    DD = Dear/Darling Daughter

    Here's some more:

    I find it really hard to read when people post things like 'DH said to DD1, don't do that to your sister (DD2), so then DD3 jumped to her defence, and to make it even worse, now my MIL and FIL are involved...bla bla bla'

    I have never in all my life heard anyone call their husband their 'darling/dear husband' or dear/darling daughter' - yet when I read these posts that's what I say in my head! lol

    Dear/Darling Husband
    MIL = Mother in Law
    etc etc

    Or ast the risk of upsetting Simbacat - do i mean 'ECT'? :rotfl:
