But why don't they say "it's a better offer than half price"?

Actually, even that doesn't sound right.
I'm sure that people could understand the positiveness of buying something that is 'less than half price'.
I totally agree  I personally hated the course because I can't stand all this advertising rubbish anyway. If I want to buy something I will buy it, not because of the pictures or words on the box or in the store.0 -

I must admit, Sarah, although most grammar, spelling and punctuation comes naturally to me (I'm not showing off, it's just a throwback to my education and my anally-retentive memory ), I sometimes have to stop & think about 'imply' and 'infer'.0 -

I look to see if I am posting on the correct Forum and carry out a search in case someone has posted the same thing.
I then sleep on it as it might not seem such a good idea in the morning.
Then, AND ONLY then, do I submit my post.
If everyone on MSE did this, life would be so much easier for us all.
Haha, I literally laughed out loud then! Lol!
:rotfl:Are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation? :cool:0 -
Absolutely agree.
I'm one of those annoying (at least to the OP) people who notices bad grammar, lack of paragraphs, spelling mistakes, text speak (Argghhh), lack of punctuation, (and don't get me started on apostrophe's  in the wrong place) but I don't make a point of pointing it out to the poster.
I may be risking your wrath here, but I don't think you need an apostrophe in the word apostrophes? As it's a plural?
Maybe that's what the little face was for? If I've missed the irony (or am wrong!) then I'm sorry.

Comyface
Yes, that's EXACTLY what the little face was for.
I'm surprised that you're the first to fall for my little bit of irony.
No need to be sorry.
I once read a Service Level Agreement document written by somebody who wrote "PC's" - hundreds and hundreds of times. I called him 'The Apostrophe Kid' after that.0 -
Top thread! Love it...

In the same vein, have you noticed that very few people on this forum can tell the difference between "number" and "amount"?
The "amount" of times I have seen the two confused

Last night I was reading the latest Inspector Banks crime novel by Peter Robinson and found this little gem:
'DI Cabbot' said Gervaise. 'The Chief Constable is here because he was a friend of the victim's'
By the way, they were only talking about one victim! What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
Glad to see that you spotted your caps lock was on, even if it was half-way through your post.Blakespops wrote: »IF YOUR SICK OF THE PEOPLE ON HERE WHO CHECK ALL THE THREADS AND JUST PICK AND ATTACK THE POSTERS DUE TO SPELLING, GRAMMAR, SIMILAR LISTINGS OR ANY OTHER REASON THEY LIKE. It does make my blood boil though that your trying to help others yet you get attacked by people. not just me but have seen it with lots of posts I have read. now once I log out I am not using this site again as I do not come here to be attacked in that way. some people just like to think they are so much better than us.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:0
