Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 22ndJuly! This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good
Morning all.
First of all Happy Birthday to Snowyowl :bdaycake:have a great day xxx
Got in at 1.40 last night after picking dd up from the play, and she wanted to get up early to have a bath, so I am quite tired this morning , will have a nice early night. She loved blood brothers, and said it was very sad.
Took little dog to the vet last night for a check of her backside, and it looks like she might have to have an operation costing £1000 :eek::eek:, she is not in any pain, but the problem might get worse, so we have to go back in a month to check again, she is not insured,as in the early days I could not afford it, still we will find it somewhere, I could not bear it for her to be uncomfortable.
Off to work today, only half day though, as dd finished for the summer at lunchtime, so I will collect her from school.
We have the spinach and cheese lasagne for tea, with some garlic bread, which is all made and in the fridge.
OH is going to collect his new car today :T:T, and also, can't remember if I told you, his old van has been written off :T, so we will get much more for it, than if we had sold it, but that money will have to go to his dad, who lent him the cash for the new one (confused yet
)
Need to put the garden recycling and rubbish out this morning, and have a quick tody round, will ask OH to hoover and mop before he goes out.
OK need more tea, have great days all xx
Hugs to Diva, still thinking of you xx

Morning Ruby & all to follow,
Been a lovely sunny day again here. I decided to get in and do the floors this morning. DH arrived home around lunch time. Had to make a few phone calls this arv & pay a few bills online. I was going to the shopping centre tomorrow for a browse but decided to go on Friday now. Neck still sore but much better than what it was. Doing nothing has paid off.
Ruby I know what you mean. Benny's eye cost us $1000 to remove but what can you do. You manage to find it somewhere. Good news about the write-off.
MSD hugs
Snowy:bdaycake::bdaycake::bdaycake::bdaycake: That's 1 for every ten years.Hope you have a happy day.
See you round like a fruit loop. <hugs> if you want one. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Morning everyone.
Had terrible night. DD had me up for best part of 2 hours. Shes teething and I think having a growth spurt too. She normally has one bottle at bedtime but she ended up having another full bottle at 3am this morning. Even after that it took her aaaaaaaaaaages to drop off so consequently am looking like a zombie today.
Tea tonight will be pasta, tom sauce, tuna, peppers and some baby courgettes. Mine still aren't getting any bigger and if I don't cut when whilst small they go soft and mouldy yuk!
Am now waging war with the slugs. I knew I'd got a couple as some of the lower leaves had been nibbled but went out to check after the rain last night and sitting like a cherry on top of a lovely cauliflower head was a slug! Needless to say he was dispatched and my organically approved slug pellets are strewn all over the bed. One of my caulis has a double head on it which I was quite impressed over (but then I am easily pleased).
Going to walk up to local library and drop off some books (and have a nose as to whether anything else worthwhile is there - probably not it's only a very small branch) and then off to Aldi to stock up on their super 6
Its bright here but very cloudy. No idea if it's going to stay dry but shall pack the waterproofs in case. The kids sit in our double buggy and with the rain cover on it's well cosy
Not caught up on the rest of yesterdays thread so will go and have a nose now.
have a good day all OS or not.
Redruby - enjoy your new car and sorry to hear about your pooch x

Redruby - so sorry to hear about little dog, hope that you can get away without the op but as you say you will raise the money somehow.
Sunnygirl - hope you cat has turned up. Mine does this regularly.
Many Happy Returns Snowy :beer::j
Bright sunshine here at the moment so have a wash in the wm and a couple more if it stays nice. Going to have an hour or so doing housework this morning then will be in the office. Cant moan tho as have hairdressers this afternoon for a much needed trim. Both kids wanted lie ins today so hopefully wont see them for a while.
Pork chop barbeque casserole today, as long as I remember to get the chops out of the freezer. Nothing else major planned for today - will look at doing something with the kids tomorrow.
Ironing pile is still ginormous - hope to get some done today.

Sunnygirl any news on pusscat yet?
thank you for the good wishes yesterday, we had a lovely meal (took the kids and the in laws) i got 2 more bouquets in the afternoon so with the ones i got last week for my birthday and then these the didning table is groaning under the weight of 5 bouquets worth:eek: the guy in the florists who keeps delivering them all said it was pretty bad planning on my part to get maried so close to my birthday:rotfl:.
hoping to walk into the next town this morning if the rain holds off DD needs her provisional sorting out but she also wants her hair cut and dyed so she needs to do the check and send BEFORE she changes the hair style or ill have to get the photos done and resigned
hope everyone has something nice in their day.

Couldn't have got any closer than me - on my 45th birthday this year it would have been my Silver wedding anniversary (if I hadn't call time on it 10 years ago!)........then I proceeded to have DS1 4 days after my birthday, and DS2 4 days before  That is one date I will be avoiding this time round!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Good morning everyone.
Diva Still thinking about you xx
Bitsy I remember the broken nights well ((hugs)) for you or should that be matchsticks for the eyesAs they get older they STILL wake you up only its at 2am when they come in  There was never anything about all this lack of sleep in the book
Redruby Sorry to hear about little dog xx
Noahs Mum I almost wet myself laughing yesterday reading Noah's comment :rotfl: Hopefully the smelly breathed man will take note
No sign of Buster cat yet. I am starting to believe that he isn't coming back as he's never done this before. DS1 is particularly upset as Buster was the first cat ever that he'd bonded with.
I've also woken up with a raging temp (38.8 deg), sore throat and general achiness   I suppose if its swine flu at least I'm getting it before it gets any worse. The kids will no doubt follow. DH never gets anything!
I'll see how I feel but might go back to bed once I've put tea in the slow cooker and done the washing x 2 loads. They never think about all this if I'm indisposed
(((hugs))) and love to all that need some today & I'll try and catch up later.

Edited to add: Webitha Welcome to the OS Daily thread! No question is too daft here I once asked people to weigh 2 weetabix for me!!!!!!!!0 -
morning all
Happy Birthday Snowy:j
Well up at 5 again this morning...a lie in!!..feel absolutely shattered at the moment. Am used to getting up at that time with DS but also used to a bit of peace and quiet while he is at school.....not getting that now and house very noisy all the time, flapping and repetitive noises..autistic children shouldnt get school hols...should be law:rotfl:
Am taking him to town soon to get a bday present for a party he doesnt want to go to tomorrow:rolleyes:, he doesnt do parties but have told him we can just pop in to give a present and show our faces and we dont have to stay.
OH was sick last night so now claims he is dying and is in bed...not going to work....I dont know, the weaker sex eh;)
Moved 7 huge slugs from my broccoli this morning:oyukky things. Dont feel like eating it now somehow.
Not sure what we are having for tea, maybe sausages...I think thats what I have on my plan..will see if OH recovers later.
MSD any news yet?
Bitsy hope you get some rest tonight
sunnygirl is the cat back yet?
am off now before DS trashes the house:eek:
hugs to all who need them today
Sunnygirl as your temp is so high with those other symptoms I think you`d better get Swine flu checked..hope it isnt but at least if you do have it you can start treatment. Oh and I cant be ill and have a tidy house either unless I do it...it seems if I do nothing then neither does anyone else.....0 -
Hello all, :hello:
Haven't been on here for ages so haven't got a clue as to what is going on.
DGD2, (4.3mths) slept over last night, I use the word slept loosely as she woke 5 times and was up at 5.30. I've just put her down for a sleep. Have BM and WM on and some stewing steak in SC. Have paid some bills and sorted out ironing to do later.
Must try and do some weeding it's so overgrown, we have been in Malta for a week and everything has sprouted.
DD1 has recovered from Swine Flu, she was poorly for 6 days.
Hope it's a good day for all.0 -
Good morning all,
Had a lovely day yesterday, walked into town as it was hot and sunny, and had a giggle at the women changing the towel that covers the front door mat! why ? I'm still pondering this now.Perhaps its a german flylady thingy.
:rotfl:
Picked more blackberries as they're ripening really fast here.Made garlic mash with bratwurst, apple sauce and fresh tomatoes from the garden,i noticed that there are 2 cucumbers ready to pick but i'm not keen on them.
Massive thunderstorm here last evening with curtains of rain, magical to watch the lightening rippling around the sky,so i don't have to water today, another job jobbed for me
Hoover through and remake the dgk's beds ready for when they arrive back next week. Can't believe i've been here for nearly 4 weeks, back home on the 4/5th august.
Have a lovely day all
