No, because apart from all those factors just mentioned, generally speaking, immigrants send money home, thus removing it from (our) economy and dont contribute much in the way of tax or purchase of goods and services whilst here.

My personal view is no - it's not.

It seems basic econimics and maths to me that it can't be good for the economy, yet the spin doctors still try to tell us that we need them etc...

What did the UK do before?

I don't think immigrants will ever intergrate with the community or customs, I think we will end up having "no go" areas and divides amongst different cultures.

Where schooling is concerned - resources and skills are needed to give attention to the different nationalities - surely this split of resources must lower the general standard of Education?

I was cringing a bit when I write the above response - but I see already that I am not alone with my opinons, and think that English people are becoming wise to the notion of being politically correct.

I have actually heard some business owners say that we need immigration so that businesses can survive with cheap labour. To my mind cheap foreign labour = increased profits for the business owner, but that money is NOT funelles back into the economy, it stays in their pocket.

Just watching 'The Truth about Crime' on BBC1 ...... cant imagine many of the 'English' people in the programme becoming cleaners or doing all the crappy jobs that a lot of migraints do. Or even working hard to set up new businesses which many migraints also do. Just another point of view.

Looking at it in a completely emotionless point of view, it costs the UK to have such high immigration - it need not. All we need is an immigration system where we say no to those that cannot help our economy in particular. That includes those seeking asylum. That may sound harsh, but until we can afford it, the door needs to be slammed shut.

Of course, this doesnt provide an easy solution for a government facing an aging demographic and that will struggle to find the cash for all those boomer pensions and hip replacements.

A fair and valid point. The problem stems from governments in the past pu55y footing to those long term u/e in this country who would not take these jobs and so the floodgates opened to the immigrants who would do those jobs (no disrespect to them) They are not the root of the problem, they are filling a gap:confused: that in all honesty should never have been as big as it was allowed to get. Then when they got their feet so to speak they bettered themselves and got better jobs and that was when people started to whine about it. When Johnny foreigner gets sick of shovelling !!!!!! all day he's going to move on, who wouldn't:confused:

Are threads asking leading questions that are basically just inviting a lot of anti foreigner posts good for MSE?
