Are threads asking leading questions that are basically just inviting a lot of anti foreigner posts good for MSE?

    No.
    Like I said, it won't last??
I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

    No.

Your emotions lead you to a false conclusion. This is a well mannered discussion.
What is financially advantageous to people is exactly what MSE is about.

I agree we need to force some of the home bred lower pond life in this country to pick up tools and do the jobs that many foreigners have come across and done... I am not talking about those who have recently lost jobs, but the serial 3rd generation benefits scroungers we seem to have on many a street corner.

To be honest the vast majority of immigrants who come here often make me embarrased to be British, bearing in mind the complete lost generations of doleite sponging scum the welfare state has managed to create. I can fully understand why many are off back home now the money is running out.

It is the press that makes me ashamed to be british. On a personal level the british people I know are good, honest, hardworking and kind. Maybe it's because I'm fortunate enough to live in a good area. The contrast with the portrayal in the media couldn't be more striking.

ETA: I should add that the non-brits I know are too. I am worried about the economy, sustainability and resources though.

What sort of immigration are we talking about? Are you against those who are seeking asylum/ those who have overstayed their visas/ those who work hard and contribute to the economy paying taxes?

Or are you against all immigration and becoming a closed country?

And whilst we are at it, I really hope they bring back something similar to Borstal post next general election, more focus on repaying society and far less on rehabilitation. For any that are aware of it, the colchester model would sort out a fair few cheeky little scrotes out pretty quickly.

I am not talking about anything physical (other than 10k runs at 6:00AM), but support ideas such as only one tv for every 2 wings, match final is on? Best behaved wing wins right to watch the match. More focus on teamwork and rehabilitation as a community rather rehabilitation as an individual.

I would welcome those filling specialist shortage roles where they contribute more than they receive in public services.

I think in the near term, we need to get tough and close the doors fully. We have taken our fair share of asylum seekers, the world isnt getting any rosier and it isnt getting any cheaper to carry dead wood. That is the reality of a government that does little about quite frankly, third world deficit spending.

Once we have our ship in order, we start allowing in economic migrants in, but they must have a full health check, (including Hep B and HIV Aids Check) have no entitlement for benefits for 6 years and must either come with a job offer or have the financial backing to start up their own business. Entitlement to benefits grows as a function of their total tax payments up to the 6 year point and past it. European Union rules changed so that individuals are more than welcome to come here and work, but are not allowed to claim a single penny in state aid whilst they are here, apart from life saving medical treatment or a return ticket home. Extreme? No different than goes on in many western countries today. Dont like it? Tough. We dont have the cash to do anything differently.

I would not have a problem with immigration if:
Immigrants were employed at the same rate as a British worker, in order to keep a level playing field.
If the jobs offered to immigrants had been advertised in this country first.
If there was a genuine skills shortage in certain areas (which there probably is not).
Let me give you an example. The security guards at my local "Jokecentre" are all African - why? Is there a shortage of British security staff?
Unchecked immigration has the following impact on a country. It drives down wages, creating unfair competition for indigenous workers (whatever their colour or creed). It allows greedy employers to make more money at the expense of poor workers who will not contribute anything to this country.
I agree with the comments made about "hereditary" benefits claimants, generations of lazy spongers. These are the people who never bothered at school, who disrupted lessons for the rest of us, and are then rewarded for doing nothing. They should be forced to work in menial occupations for minimum wage,

I was a cleaning supervisor in charge of a very big office, a bank HQ. We had some nightmare workers ...all of them locals. They came in drunk, they took 3 nights a week off, they sat on phones all night or raked through the workers desks, & pilfered everything that wasn't nailed down.
Then we got the Poles. Who turned up every night, did what I asked, were polite, and SMILED. Culture shock for me ! :) So there's nobody to blame but ourselves. People would rather stay on the dole than take menial jobs as cleaners. Even though that meant paying their way in life and possibly studying at the same time to eventually better themselves.
