OH has type 2 diabetes (along with other conditions) and we were pleased with the quote from this company:
http://www.medicitravel.com/ you will have to phone them though.
If you check the travel insurance article under the Travel & Transport tab above, there is a list of useful companies under "pre-existing conditions".I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Hi all,
With my Lloyds TSB account, my wife and I are covered for annual worldwide travel insurance but excludes my recently aquired, pre medical condition ie. coronary artery angioplasty (stent) fitted 9 weeks ago.
The policy does cover us for Hypertension and diet controlled Diabetes
As we know with the EHIC card we are covered for medical treatment in the EEC so realistically speaking when holidaying in Europe medical insurance isn't necessary.
Should repatriation be necessary either as a travelling patient, which I understand needs accompanying with medical personell or, god forbid, a deceased patient, the EHIC card, I believe does not cover this cost.
Does anyone know of any insurance company which offers this cover alone or a reasonably priced policy to cover my needs for an 11 night stay in mainland Spain. I have tried quite a few, some will only offer cover 3 months following the procedure, some 12 months and some not at all. Those that will offer cover range from £62.00 to £200+
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,Snootchie Bootchies!0 -

This is a mistaken belief. The EHIC card is only a basic cover and doed not cover you for emergency medical treatment in Europe. You still need medical insurance cover particularly the 24 Medical Assistance facility.0 -
After trawling round the internet for almost two days looking for travel insurance for pre existing medical conditions (I have a pacemaked fitted for heard block) I managed to get a really good deal with jsinsurance.co.uk . For a single trip holiday to Turkey for myself and my two daughters I was qouted £33.00. Now thats what I call a good deal!!!
don't know how you got such a good deal.i got a quote for myself ( for outside europe) without pre existing condition £ 20.13 but with it was £38.75.i was told it was so much more expensive cos people tend to claim- it didn't take into consideration those who haven't had a problem for years either.i'm still looking0 -
Just tried jsinsurance and they will not cover my pre-existing medical conditions.Snootchie Bootchies!0

And so it goes on!
No 2 people can get a like for like quote even if their pre-existing problems were exact and fell on the same day as the other persons, with exactly the same treatments.
Ya' pays ya' monies an takes ya' chances, but by god, if ya' didn't, (insure) your gona pay for it later, should ya' have needed medical attention.0 -
I actually work for CIS Insurance (not in the travel dept.) and my wife has just got annual worldwide cover for £60, (this includes my 20% staff discount, but still a good price at £72!).
They have just changed the underwriting so that any pre-existing condition is covered as long as there has been no specialist in-patient care in the last 12 months (so any care done by nursing staff or through your GP could be OK, as it specifically states treatment by a specialist.).
I would also advise anyone taking this up to join the cooperative, it costs a pound and you will get a share of profits each year. I joined 5 years ago and I have received around £170 of in effect free money!:cool:0 -

I could do with making direct contact if possible but without giving details here...0 -
I've been really happy with www.itssoeasytravelinsurance.com
They have covered several medical conditions in my family and cover people up to the age of 85 for single trips and up to 75 for annual policies within Europe or 65 worldwide. Their staff have always been helpful and friendly.0 -
