add a 3 year warranty then quote the price
Acer extended warranties are actually pretty low priced (for collect and return) and you can get one with accidental damage cover too.
Extended Warranty for Acer Notebooks - 3 Year Collect & Return WITH Accidental Damage £81.08 inc. VAT

you have to buy within 30 days of buying your PC i think.
(this is for acer notebooks not the aldi gericom notebook in original post)0 -
would u go for the rock or the amilo?
as i said in first page amilo is way to go for couple hundered extra on this greicom most definetly what people are forgetting and this is a big negative for why not to buy this aldi laptop or any other intel one is your not going to be able to buy next gen of 64 bit windows which should be out in next couple of months!
Its ultimately your decision but I really love my laptop not done anything wrong for me and I have been delighted with the speed of it when its on 32 bit and I can only dream about what its going to be like when winxp64 comes out in couple of months!!0 -
your (sic) not going to be able to buy next gen of 64 bit windows which should be out in next couple of months!
I'll belive it when I see it!
Get Linux - it's been 64 bit for more than a couple of months, and it's free, too ;DTime is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0 -
no it was jsut with the battery in, not the power. i have read on other forums that this problem develops to include switching off randomly with the power and the battery. give it back while u can and get a decent make laptop - its not worth the worry!0

Tabasco like I said in my first post my laptop crashed 9 times without warning. Have you added any other programs since you bought it? You should be able to operate the laptop with the mains plugged in and the battery attached as the laptop will recognise that you are working on mains power. I am cosidering an Acer 8000 series next. Anybody have any experience with this make. They seem to be a large company and the laptop looks like a good spec.0
