Hi folks have been busy and had visitors too. Internet is still carp, were looking into satellite now which is probably the only option for where we live!! its pants. dh has been quite busy but is a bit fed up with the signs at the mo, just doesnt seem to cover the outlay so is thinking of taking up the tools again and going with the joinery (watch this space) . All well with the kids ds2 has been doing loads of swimming and Im so proud of him as this time last year I couldnt get him to get in the pool as he'd had a fright at the local baths and swallowed most of it :rotfl: Anyway he's doing really well and were off to the outdoor pool again tonight. DD had her debs last week and looked lovely so glad thats out of the way now (Im not very girly) Hope everyone is well and I must catch up with you all.

Right Im back and all is well. The internet has finally been sorted :T We found another dongle do da thingy that can actually find signal inside the house without an aerial and is pretty fast too so it worked out 3euro per month cheaper with less gigg per month so provided we dont go over our limit it should be good.(Kids have been warned) no youtube etc. Even though its cheaper and only a 30 day contract along with all the usual ID and utility bills for evidence you are who you say you are  it still cost €50 deposit which I get back after 6 months!!! Thats how to make money folks. Anyway no more going up to the caravan in the pouring rain so Im happy if a little more skint.
Porch is now almost finished bar the lights, all painted and cills in looks lovely. Kids are driving me nuts as usual. Swim boy is doing great and now jumping in the deep end, really feel as though weve achieved something this summer. DD is gearing up for her final year and DS1 has a transition year which he's looking forward too as its more field trips and works experience etc rather than school work. Have a few more bits to get before they start back and am not as organised as usual, still we will get there. Hope everyone is ok and Im sorry for the long post feels like Ive been missing for an age.:rotfl:

Morning folks, feel like Im getting somewhere at long last. Ive spent the past two days on DHs tax return, all done now for another year so glad about that and maybe even getting a very small repayment :j The debt thing is still going in the right direction. Things are good and the kids are all back at school. DS1 is off on a camping trip next week so fingers crossed the nice weather will continue (doubt it somehow). DS2 has been swimming with school every day this week as weather has been good, (should explain pool is outdoor) we have a swimming gala on tomorrow in which they all receive a medal so he'll be delighted with that. DD is doing her final year this year so is having extra study time which means picking her up every day at 5.45 which is a bit of a pain as its a 14mile round trip and diesel is becoming more expensive with every passing day. She should hear about her car test soon and were hoping it will be sometime next month. Her car had to go back to the guy we bought it from, lots of problems, 1. The alternator had to be replaced, 2. The fuel pump. and then the ecu unit thingy, so he's looking out for a replacement for her, hope it doesnt take too long as it was cheap to run and was handy having a second vehicle around too.
We decided to go through the insurance re my small bump at the shop as finding another 500 euro when all the school fees had to be found was proving difficult so we opted to claim it that way and this gives us breathing space knowing we'll have to pay more next june for the premium but hey ho what can you do.
sorry for the long post, hopefully get back to normal from here on in.

Good to hear things are well in your neck of the woods. Only back 2 days and I've got an email about a trip to Brussels for 1 child! It seems to never stop.

I know its all money isnt it. DS1 has gone off for a camping week today cost €200 school fees to be paid soon €280 for elder two and €50 for the smallie, its just a nightmare. Got little car back on saturday , broke down on sunday just something else we dont need. Hopefully the week will improve DH has building work for a few weeks so that should be very helpful and will give me time to get this house in some sort or order :rotfl:

Well DS1 got his Junior Cert results yesterday, did very well a couple of A's and a couple of Bs the rest Cs and as theyre all higher grade he was delighted, they came back from camp especially to get their papers, so I treated him and his small brother to a hot chocolate and a bun in the local cafe, (we know how to party :rotfl:) DD is still suffering with this horrible chest thing so she's off to the docs today, I must call them and school as she will have to go on the bus from school, still no transport for me but this is hopefully getting sorted this week, I'll have cabin fever.
Moneywise most things are paid now re school just the smallie to sort out next week then it will be things as they come up. Weather looks good so will get some bedding washed (sound like my mother now)!!

  • Hi turfy, I have subscribed to your thread and have read through your ups and downs. It does sound similar to ours, including the moce to somewhere very rural which we love too. My original plan was to be debt free by 50 but then we had the grand idea to convert the barn so now have an extra 10 years.
