Morning peeps, weather was awful last night and the wind and rain kept me awake from around 4am:eek:, so will be glad of an easy day today. All off to school and work so far. We had a letter from the county council yesterday about the dreaded road which we have to reply to by next week. They want us to stump up €5400 toward the road which they are paying around €30,000. Not much chance of that so DH is phoning today to see if there is any way we can get the prep work done ourselves and just get them to lay the tar, so I dont know what is going to happen on that score, but if they want the cash we will be going to the bottom of the list again and filling in potholes for another however many years. Its a nightmare as I know if the road got done then DH would be much happier here and that leads to a happier life for all of us IYKWIM>

Apart from all that carp the sun has come out so I must try and get some more washing out there. Enjoy the day peeps.

Thats huge! What an absolute pain, turfy, access to your house is really crucial, but its really difficult to find that sort of money when you can actually get access, however awkward. I know what you mean tho - my own *little* example is flooring - I really want to get the front of the ground floor in this house sorted out - proper underfloor ventilation (some of the bricks are covered), proper sealing of all the little holes, and then proper flooring, and I just don't have the money - the money I've been spending so far has been money that was "over" from the downsize, plus I had to spend £1200 or so extra on electrics, so I just can't justify another £1200 or so on something that I'd *like* - tho I may have to find the money to do the ventilation work anyway, come what may.

Hope the council come back with an answer that helps you, about OH doing the work himself/finding a way.

Were actually out tonight. One of DH's darts team died last year from cancer so tonight is a charity raiser and we have two pro darts players coming. Colin LLoyd and Peter Manley of darts fame so hopefully will be a good night and we can raise some cash for cancer research. (p.s. DH is only a little excited IYKWIM) ahh boys will be boys ;)

Had a good weekend and really did enjoy the darts. The two pro's were so funny and very entertaining. Had dinner cooked for me on sunday too. Have got some planting done and yesterday picked up another 4 hens they are noisely getting introduced to the old birds at the mo, pecking order and all that!:rotfl: News on the road is a bit slow keeping everything crossed and the odd prayer.
We are having a new addition in a few weeks a 3yr old donkey called Ned, so we must start preparing the old turf shed into a stable etc etc. Ive always wanted one and he's so friendly "cant wait".
Barclaycard is now below £100 :T:T not long now before its buried for good. Sun has come out today so off to check on new chooks, enjoy the day folks.

How nice for you to have such a lot of good news! What happens when the barclaycard is gone, turfy, are you debt free, or is there more to do? I always get the impression that its still mahoosive, but "below £100" isn't much! Here's hoping ....

I wish we were debt free after dreaded barclaycard KC, but hence NO, once the visa is gone I will start in earnest on the two loans followed closely by the mortgage which is around €40,000 so onward and upward, will be glad to get shut of visa as the interest was 24.9% which is the reason its first to go. Im still very focussed though and will struggle on to rid them all, the first loan is due to end in Sept without added payments so its all going in the right direction. I suppose its not that mahoosive really.
