Sorry havent been around folks two main reasons, first I ended up with flu and have never felt so bad, secondly my ex hubbys aunt died last sunday, she has been a nanna to my kids since there nanna died when my eldest was 1 so we have been very close. She was diagnosed with an aggresive brain tumour in august and we made a trip back in september to see her, so we had been expecting it. I now need to organise ourselves to get over for the funeral on friday, we were also meant to be at a wedding in co clare so had to cancel that. The weather forecast couldnt be worse so my plans are to travel with the teens by train to dublin and then cross my fingers that ferries are running, so could be ok but then again!!! Will probably aim for wednesday to travel and back again after the weekend.

I'm sorry to hear that, turfy, tho I'm glad you got to see her before she passed. And you've been so ill too - I hope you're well enough to travel, especially in this weather, its awful. I'll be thinking of you.

The *well* is frozen  now thats bad. Between frozen water in a rural environment, and the perils of travelling in a deep cold spell like this, especially because of a death in the family, this is such a bad time for you :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: I suppose the practicalities take your mind off things, but still .... hope you can work things out.

God its so cold this morning brrrrrr OH managed to sort out the well problem yesterday it was the knuckle thingamajig on the top so its all well insulated now under a bucket and loads of stuff so far so good. Gas bottle also froze up so that now has a new "insulated house" and is ok again. The busses for both school have cancelled as the roads are so icy, I did have an appointment for a cut and blo in the hairdressers but its not looking good. Managed to book our train ticket yesterday and we'll be leaving at 5am tomorrow, so far the trains are running as are the ferries so I have left loads of time to get across the city to the port, my ticket will take me right to my home town so I hope to be there by tea time tomorrow.
Off for another cuppa, glad the oil got filled up last week at least thats not going to run out:T

Thats good that nothing bad happened when everything unfroze! I really hope that journey tomorrow goes well - I'll be thinking of you. At least it doesn't seem *too* blowy, the ferry won't be pitching more than normal....

Im back folks, journey both ways was really long and very tiring, we got in late last night and I am still so glad we made the decision to go, after all I know I would be regretting it now. The funeral went really well and was just what she would have wanted. Got to spend time with some really old friends and some of the family who live further away so that was nice. Took lots of old photo's of the kids and all the cousins sat round the table having a good laugh, she would have loved that especially as they are all so grown up now, happy childhood days spent on the beach, that kind of thing.
Well water is still ok and its very cold, lots of washing to catch up now and then DS1's birthday on saturday, decs will go up and we can think about christmas, hope all is well with everyone and that youre all not too snowed up, I will catch up with you all, nice to be home.

I'm glad you're back home safe and well - and glad it went well. Isn't it strange meeting up at these things? And there were old photos up? My sister did that, its a wonderful idea, a really good way for people to connect up.

Hope the house stuff goes well over the next few days, in time for DS1's birthday.
