Try and stick to same brand of diesel if you can - it will help.
filter change and a good run, ive honestly never found any of these treatments any good in diesels.a diesel smokes for a reason, to much fuel, too little air or burning oil. all dependant on smoke colour of course as pew pointed out earlier. the smoking wont go away if its burning oil. filter change and a good hard run i say....work permit granted!0 -
it sounds like the engine is on the way out. It certainly won't pass the next MOT.0

if i was a betting man i would wager it would fail. That is if it even makes it that far. From her descriptions, it sounds like the engine is knackered.0 -
Hi I have a 53 plate ford focus 1.8 TDCI. I have noticed in the morning it is letting out a blueish colour smoke when i start it up and put my foot on the accelerator and also i have notice it has started to pull back when its cold but is fine once its warm. Someone has told me the injectors need cleaning or changing and someone else said maybe a full service needs doing to replace the filters etc.
Has anyone else had this problem and if so can someone help me as i would rather go for a cheaper option than the expensive option first!!!
Help please!if i was a betting man i would wager it would fail. That is if it even makes it that far. From her descriptions, it sounds like the engine is knackered.
according to the op its fine when its warm. when the car gets MOT'd it will be warm....work permit granted!0 -

It will fail the MOT on emissions.0 -
Blue smoke on start up is a sign of worn valve guides, causing oil to leak into the cylinders. I have driven vans that used to do this, and ran for thousands of miles with no problem.
Diesel over fueling will be black if it burns it, or white if it gets into the exhaust unburnt, then vapourised as the exhaust gas passes over it. Unless the injectors or fuel pump are leaking oil, (on ones with oil feeds) it probably won't be them, and once the seals go they leak continuously, either oil into the diesel, or diesel into the sump on some engines.0 -
Some smoke from a Diesel engine does not mean it's knackered. There's so many minor things that can go wrong to cause it to smoke.Happy chappy0

I'd be interested what the emission test is on a diesel as well?0
