    Quick question on breastfeeding.

One of nipples is sore and chapped feeling with orange crusty bits (that bleed if picked off). It's her prefered side and she has been sucking a lot! Her position is ok according to the nurses. I'm also having to use the hospital pump to express.

Any tips on how to help it before I go asking to be poked at? Put some vaseline on to stop the pad sticking to it.

(had the lil lady on thurs at 9.21am by elective section by the way. she is in special care for low blood sugar and mild jaundice but doing well)

Congratulations Tia! I am not in fact a real laydee, so hopefully one will be along soon to help - OH had similar (maybe not quite as bad) issues in the first few days/weeks, and cracked nipple cream plus careful alternating was all she came up with to help. I believe lettuce leaves are sposed to be good too? Honestly!

Tia Congratulations, I had the same trouble and what got me through was Lansinoh nipple cream (its just pure lanolin I think), its pricey, about £10 a tube but its really worth it, you won't need it for long but its so good it gets you through that difficult bit.

I keep reading that babies are meant to be able to sleep through by now - no-one told this one :(

This is exactly what we have been telling ourselves for months Ladybird :/ I feel your pain, but as it turns out there are rather a lot of babies that cannot sleep through by now, or by 1, or even *shudder* by 2... :( good luck!

Congrats on your baby girl Tia. Hope she gets well soon :)

Was a nice day today, so took Keira to the park with OH for about 2 and a half hours, she was playing with a girl who was 6 and 3/4 so she tells me! I like how she can just introduce herself to people and play along nicely, pretending there is dinosaurs, COME ON GIRL RUN AWAY IT'S A LONG NECK!

She needs a poo but says she doesn't, her farts are disgusting so I know she is lying!

We are taking her to Blair drummond safari park tomorrow so should be a good day out and I hope the weather stays nice. Was planning to take her to Edinburgh Zoo this month, and hopefully stay over for a weekend but that fringe festival is on so all the cheap places like travelodge etc are sold out and the ones that aren't want £200 for ONE night! Sod that! September it is then.....
