sami - ditto here - the only "auto" appointment they make here is for their jabs - which Alex isn't having there anyway. She's in a trial with the Oxford university for a new vaccine (well... exactly the same injections but in the same needle instead of in 2 seperate needles - hoping to save distress for the wee bairns...) We're in the control group though so she's having exactly the same as other babies - only difference is that a doctor comes to us to do it and she has a couple of blood tests to make sure the immunisations work properly - which you don't get normally and apparently something like 85% don't take properly! If that happens she'd be offered a booster course
MM - deepest condolances to your neighbourWhilst it's tough having to wait to bury her son at least she hasn't had to wait too long like if he'd had to be flown back from Afghanistan or somewhere like that

I spent most of the night trying not to be sick...which in hindsight I probably would have been better doing (sorry TMI). Then Benjamin decided to wake at 1.30pm, 3.30pm and 4.30pm before I gave up and put him in with us. Not like him at all...although I didn't put him in a sleeping bag last night because he had a fleecy sleepsuit on so I am now thinking he may have been cold
Sami - I forgot to applaud your grumpy McNoBooby last night - here you go :T:T:T
(the words...not the grumpy baby!)
maybe B was just a bit confused by the lack of sleeping bag or he sensed mummy wasn't well and wanted to keep an eye on you.
Thanks for the applauseladybirdintheuk wrote: »Here you have the first set at the 8 week check, which you are sent an appointment letter for, then they tell you to go book appointments for the other 2 injections yourself. Its funny how they all do it differently.
I'm meant to be at mum Mums at 12, but I have a sleeping baby on me at the mo! Will give her another 10 mins but I'm going to have to wake her up soon!0 -
Jakesmummy - I'm sure you'd get childcare if you got WTC, but don't quote me on that! Tax credits is a minefield, and the less I know about their evil ways the easier I sleep at nights!
Oh and you are not too old to be a primary school teacher! OH's sister went back to uni for the second time to become one (the 1st time around she did interior design and after finishing it, decided she didn't wanna be one, good, her style is rank!) I think she went back at 25, and she specifically went to a uni in England as it's only 3years to become one down there, and it's 4 in Scotland.
Why would it take 5years? Have you got to get higher marks or something first? Really have no clue.
She enjoys teaching, she teachs P1 (the best year!) in a small primary school, erm not sure exact place but outside Newcastle somewhere, she did her first year there (as all students get a 1yr place on leaving) and they have hired her on permo now.
Good luck0 -

Bit of a random q does anyone know anything about getting help with childcare when returning to college/uni? I know for the tax credits help you both have to be working but what about studying? ive googled it and cant find any definite info! also im 25 now, id be 30 by the time i finish (hopefully wanna be a primary school teacher), do u think I'l be too old:o I mite have to wait til next sep now anyway If i cant get a place for this time,
When you apply for the usual grants/loans there is all sorts of extras you can apply for....parent learning allowance and adult dependant grant and childcare fees:D Plus (I am assuming youmean full-time Uni) You will get your 25% reduction on council tax and tax credits don't include university loans and grants as an income, so your current award wouldn't reduce:)
As for being to old:rotfl: I am 29 and still have a couple of years left until I complete my degree and can apply for a PGCE place.....So NO you are not too old:D
