It's said we all have a slight autism about us mine is my towels, they have to be folded a certain way and put away in the cupboard properly
this thread's moved so fast since I was last here  I'm sure I've missed a lot, I'll have to go back & check later

I have to have my towels folded so that if you pick one off the shelf, you only get one & don't haul another one off the shelf along with it, but I think that's just common sense ;)

that said, my youngest (aged 22) has Asperger's & with hindsight, his dad definitely has it too, which ties in with other posts I've seen here about inheritance, but if I multi-quote them all this post will be HUGE!

I also have to have odd numbers of things, for example I count potatoes in the supermarket, among other things  but I know how it started, it was gardening, odd numbers of plants always look better grouped than even numbers of them
if I buy an even number of anything for practical reasons, it bothers me & I obsess about it

Becles, I'm looking for pics of my daughter to post, but I'm moving house & I'm not sure where they are, I can't take a pic of her now to show you because she's 24 & looks a bit different than when she was wee :D I showed her you avatar this afternoon & she thought it was a pic of herself that she'd never seen!

That was a short night for you Sami!

I don't think I have any autistic spectrum position, but OH may, and my mum is actually quite heavily involved with autism -

    and

    http://www.autismandcomputing.org.uk/about.en.html

is the charity she set up - might be a bit dry reading, but perhaps there's a tiny link to some of you who live on the forums! :p (not really connected, the charity is about using computers to help autistic people, basically because one thing that helps autistics is rules and things that respond in exactly the way they expect, which are things computers are good at).

(ETA: I have probably totally savaged and abused Autism & Computing's purpose and vision there, so don't take my word for it!)

    Morning All

I am struggling to keep up with this thread lately, as I am trying to spend less time on the computer and more time with my family:) I will pop in and out and will prob just read back a couple of pages each time, to see if I can add anything...I just want to add, that OCD does just mean straight tea-towels, or organised food cupboards. My dh has OCD and it is hell to live with for both of us and impacts on the kids too, there is so much more to it then just random acts of cleanliness/tidyness!

I have been busy sorting out cupboards and things, trying to get the place tip top throughout the manic summer holidays, ready for a more manic Sept/Oct as I will need to be super organised, and will have even less time for procrastination;) Kids go back to school, dh goes back to Uni, I go back to work and my next Uni course starts too, I don't know how we are going to fit everything in to be honest:rolleyes:

Caz - Good luck on your first day:D

No hurry. Best of luck with the move :)

I don't think I do anything too odd at home. I like ironed bedding and don't sleep as well if the sheets are crumpled rather than crisp. I iron all the top clothes but don't iron undies or socks or towels.

I think ex-MIL has OCD as she is obsessed with cleaning. The whole house is hoovered and dusted every day, even the spare bedroom when nobody had been in it. The kitchen is hoovered and all the benches and cupboard doors are wiped down after every meal, and the bathroom is cleaned after almost every use. It's most off putting when you're sitting having a poo and you can hear her shuffling about on the landing with her disinfectant wanting to be in to clean the loo! The sofa is covered in hundereds of lacy covers, so you can't slouch about and relax as they all get creased and wonky and that does her nut in. You have to sit perfectly still and then straighten them up when you get up. Meals and drinks are at a set time and cannot be altered for any reason whatsoever, and nobody else is allowed in the kitchen, even if you just want a drink of water you have to wait until official drink time. I drink gallons of water, so I used to have to hide bottled water in my room and sneak off to drink it. It was really uncomfortable stopping there.

Had a reasonable night out last night. The food was absolutely gorgeous and we really enjoyed it. The service was pants though. It was just a young lad and as his section filled up, he couldn't cope with the number of people and nobody else was helping him out. Had the house to ourselves last night and had activities planned, but AF turned up early yesterday afternoon. How cruel is that?! I'm on the pill too and take my last one this morning, and it normally doesn't turn up till the Tuesday or Wednesday after I've finished the packet.

Not sure what time the bairns are coming back. Parents said they would ring me later if they decide they are coming back for tea here.
Here I go again on my own....
