Tine, don't be like that - you know your opinions and experiences are valid to all. My point was in mine and Feelie's case, we had/have the added pressure and stress that it might be a permanent situation - you at least knew your LO could breastfeed whereas we didn't have such reassurance or the ability to hold ours close and have that stimulation to up our supply.

Enjoy your cuddle and we'll see you later, I hope :)

Sorry, juvenile sense of humour today

I had typed a witty comment about that, but deleted it, so juveniles together ;):rotfl:

No because the burning pain when I tried to feed her made me feel certain that I'd be able to continue BFing? Or that she'd even be happy to go back on a boob she had never latched on to properly before the thrush?

I'm sorry but I'm seriously upset by that! I can assure you having burning pain whenever you try to feed your child is not a reassuring feeling! With all due respect if anyone can compare to having to express with severe thrush then it is neither you nor Feely - what worked or works for you may or may not work for others same as what worked for me and got me through the pain may or may not work for others with the same problem.

I would however never say that you didn't have a clue about something based on that because your oppions and experiences are as valid as mine so I don't see why you felt the need to belittle mine?

Tine.. You're a BG, if you want to talk about this, lets do it by PM and not derail the thread.

I was never asking for help or tips to increase my supply. I said several times that I'm happy as I am. I am very well aware that it is not a good enough supply to feed a normal size ten week old baby, but it's enough to feed Rhys so that's all I'm bothered about.

I never meant for it to come across as belittling you and I'm sorry you took it that way. But the situations are not the same, and I wasn't asking for help and being offered it makes me feel even more inferior than I already do.

Can we draw a line under this or take it to PMs please? :)

Okay - I'll try MFD's tactic - group hug everyone (not sure it works on women the same way as burly men?)

I have much more important stuff to chat about the feeding babies - I'm eating a mini doughnut and having a coffee without my shadow as she is napping!!! Oh, alright then, I'm having two mini doughnuts and a coffee :rotfl:

we registered LO at the library today and they have a lovely selection of baby books which should satisfy my mad book lady fetish for a while at least. Although redhouse had the cutest bath book set with squirters last week.

thanks for the comments on the jumperoo - going to go for it and bid, using sami's snazzy auction sniper tool. Is there an ebay thread for a baby challange somewhere.....

Has anyone else heard of/used the wake to sleep technique? I read about it in a borrowed copy of the baby whisperer and was sceptical. But I've used it twice in a row at nap time and it's really seems to be working. Although as she was up LOTS last night perhaps she's just tired anyway :rotfl:

*Basically it is used to try and break baby of the habit of waking every 45 mins. A few mins before baby usually wakes you rouse them gently, but not completely awake. This sort of resets their sleep timer and helps them sleep past their 45 min wake time. *

AF - you have used the BW on a few occassions - how has it worked for you? have you used this method? sorry for being nosey :D

I cant seem to express any excess at all. Everything I express, she wakes up and scoffs.

Mrs Moc - no worries :)

As for having spare to stick in the freezer - I find the more I feed Alex in a bottle the more she'll scoff... the time it got easier to express enough was actually once she was back on the boob - it really does stimulate your production more than pure expressing :) I start by feeding her till she's bursting, then I express what I can and add to it during the day :) Works for us! When you're only expressing though you might find it easier to up your milk amount by expressing every 2 hours for a while... it's hard work but it does increase your supply quite quickly :)

I wasn't commenting on your supply - I was replying to MrsMoc who if memory serves me is struggling with thrush too - which is why I replied because I knew what worked for me in exactly the same situation.

You're doing fine with Rhys and I can't attempt to imagine what any of what you have been through is like and the worries you had and must still have - same as I can't explain the excrutiating pain of thrush and trying through tears to feed your child because initially you haven't got a clue why they won't latch properly and why it hurts you so badly you just want to scream in pain as soon as something touches you let alone is desperate for food that they can only get from you... and you convince yourself you're a bad mum because you can't get them to latch on properly to feed so you suffer in silence for weeks before the pain gets so bad you finally realise something is wrong...
