As someone with an alcoholic step dad, a mum who's borderline (she enjoys a drink, but if she's here visiting she'll happily go a week without any alcohol at all... ) and a father who was borderline and put himself on a course of meds to get it under control (the ones that make you feel sick if you drink any alcohol!) I'm very aware of alcohol consumption... BFing is certainly also a curbing factor on my wine consumption... People always comment on the very expensive bottles of plonk we have - mainly I like a good sparkling (£10+ a bottle) or bottles of wine are minimum £8 a bottle in this house... Why? Because I drink one SO rarely now that when I do I want one I really enjoy and can savour - and it's still cheaper than buying loads of cheap wine like I used to and drinking it on a whim :) Because it's not cheap I hardly ever open a bottle "just cos I fancy a glass"... :) Normally they get opened to enjoy with friends - or the odd cheap bottle gets opened to cook with :)

Mrs Moc - no worries :)

As for having spare to stick in the freezer - I find the more I feed Alex in a bottle the more she'll scoff... the time it got easier to express enough was actually once she was back on the boob - it really does stimulate your production more than pure expressing :) I start by feeding her till she's bursting, then I express what I can and add to it during the day :) Works for us! When you're only expressing though you might find it easier to up your milk amount by expressing every 2 hours for a while... it's hard work but it does increase your supply quite quickly :)

    That's a very smily post, Tine! :p

Speaking of wine, must remember my ID when I go shopping later, although I bet Morrisons aren't so picky!

And, with the greatest of respect, Feelie and I are the only ones to know what it feels like to only express and we've probably tried every trick in the book to get it to work. Expressing every two hours did absolutely nothing for upping my supply and just stressed me up to the eyeballs because it felt like I never got any time off from it :o
