Funny you're all talking about the Allan Carr book as while nursing my hangover and unable to get back to sleep I picked it up again. I got half way through last time and then forgot where I'd got to so read Chapter 1 this morning.
What's changing ways?
Sorry for starting the v subject 40SM had no idea it could be such a flash point for people over the web. Sorry. Although all these soo classy moments in our past might be a good thing to bring up (Groan, sorry, couldn't help it.)

Changing Ways is another member of this board. Track back a little and what he/she says is very very interesting.
The Allen Carr book is worth persevering with even if it doesn't help in your own quest it does throw some challenging ideas at you. Made me think and I believe its done its job but time will tell.
I'm going to a gig tonight, only a local band, and normally I would be having a pre going out beer this afternoon, well a few actually, but I don't even have the urge. None of my friends know i've quit yet, I told a few last week I couldn't drink because I was still suffering from the lingering bit of Swine Flu (which was true but wouldn't have stopped me before!!!!!!) but tonight they will be calling me soft, gay, weird for not drinking but i'm not giving in.
I will do this

This thread does have its twists and turns.:D
I guess that the guys wet the bed and the girls throw up.
I hope that none of the females here spoilt a Queen concert I was at by soiling my jeans and natty shoes.
On the book front I still read Living Sober regularly.Living Sober.
Some methods A.A. members have used for not drinking.

Hold that thought! You can do it.
Friends can be strange and unpredictable about this. Mine split into the "you were drinking too much, and you've done the right thing and are looking much better" group and the "you were drinking too much, but it's not so much fun for us now you've stopped, so can't you make an exception when you're out with us" group. The second group reactions felt like a kick in the stomach, as it was like they cared more about an evening out than my long term health. It's not like I was stopping them having a drink:mad:.0
