:T Well my 4th day/3rd night AF. Slept well...off to Sunny E Anglia...at least sun is out & ONE of my mates is about! May stay over if mood takes me...SO NICE to be bright, unhungover & relatively (sleep still only 75% right) refreshed! may not sign in until tomorrow...

This 'units' idea...only my thoughts but to easy to make a mistake??! try adding up all your units after a skinfull...(!) i think 2/3 days AF after any amount of booze is still the easiest way without us turning the booze in to something we obsess about...just my thoughts??? Have a good day all!

Thanks for the thoughts DM. I never drink that much that I get 'drunk' as such, so that will not be a problem. I mostly know how much I'm going to drink before I start as well, as I can't just pop round the corner to a local shop as we are in the middle of nowhere.

Having said that, I have a 4 cans of stella headache this morning from my 10 units worth. Shouldn't of had the last one !

I have tried the AFD days , but think that counting units will work better for me . Counting units will be easy for me ...... I know how many units are in the bottle of wine I drink ..... once that has gone I know that I have had 9 units. I am trying to avoid having a 'skinful' and am aiming to spread a bottle over a few days . I like to think I can have a nice glass of wine without ruining an AFD IYSwIM.

    I appreciate your thoughts though:T

ETA I never make a mistake adding up....... I am an accountant......I get my calculator out after each glass of wine (rofl)

    Morning all

Well last night trip out to a gig went well. Had an ace night and didn't desire/want/crave a drink at all. Am I finally free of this monster on my back????? or was he just sleeping...............

My OH doesn't really drink, she usually has a couple of halfs because she thinks she should, so between us, apart from the cost of tickets, we spent.........£7-70! This is the north of England by the way and it was in a Social Club sort of thing so it was cheap anyway but still, that is unbelievable for me. Normal spend would be £40+.

Sorry to obsess about money but its not just the alcohol that I have seen the light with.

I couldn't bring myself to tell my friends that I had quit, i just kept up the pretence that I was still taking tablets for my lingering illness. Going to have to come clean soon though! I've been invited out next saturday with my old crew, some of whom i've known for 20+ years. That will be one drinking festival and it will be a test for me but it seems like the ideal time to confess all..............

Joining this board is so, whats the word, inspiring or cathartic? or both!just being able to type my nonesense knowing that others reading understand and are willing you to suceed is fab.

    Onwards and upwards

    E.

  • Eyeopener, you did great :T:T:T- getting through social events where people expect you to drink is not easy. Are you going to throw the AF savings at the debts?

Oh yes, that is the MASTERPLAN! I'm all spreadsheeted up, spending diary sorted.

For the first time in long time I feel in control. I'm not kidding myself that this is going to be easy but I know what I have to do, why im doing it and what the goal is.

healthier, happier, wealthier.(nicked from Allen Carr)

Not a bad plan me thinks!

So I was AF last night and tossed and turned all night long and feel achy and like carp today  but I'm going to be AF today as well. I need to be alert for Monday morning as I have something important to do. So it will be 2/31 for me Miss Piggy.

    It's sunny here too today.

    Hope everyone is okay.:A

115k you are right, female I is. Never chucked up at a Queen concert though so not guilty there :D Obviously WB was just impressed by my macho drinking levels and thought I was a 6 foot Geordie bloke rather than a short London female.

no no no!! I knew fine you're a girlie! To say you'll feel like a new man was my (apparently feeble) idea of a joke!!

ETA 115K I've always thought you were a girl too, you must've given the game away early on!
