    Great location, enjoy.

Stayed there in my drinking days and only remember that the late night bar was populated by "Ladies of the Night" and that the dolphin fountain was frozen.

Well just got back from a GREAT day in Norfolk...went to Hunstanton with my mate & his kids. IT WAS ACTUALLY SUNNY but only about 20 degrees!.Went to the pub...I had a pint of iced water & my mate said in 20 years he'd not been to a pub with me & I ordered nothing boozy!

Driving home had a mild urge...you know the one...welll you've done 4 days why not have a few when u get back to relax you...etc..but I did a quick 'pros/cons' in my head & dismissed that! Urge went in 10 mins! Now...I've got my extra large tray of donner meat & chilli sauce to eat now watching big brother as my reward!

Night all! Thats FOUR AF days in a row...!
  • Just a little wave from me tonite... not AF unfortunately..out tonight with my sister and family and I did offer to drive, but OH soooooooooooo hungover from last night he drove... sort of celebration... as they are emigrating to Oz and have just got visa's though.. many mixed feelings over here.. obviously the wine helps with the brave face... I will need you all more than ever as the moving date gets ever closer.....

Anyhow's going to watch Kerry Katona on TV and feel better about my life than her's... just show's how money doesn't make you happy....

Remeber: Cherish the ones you love :heartpuls

All good here my dear. Thanks for asking.

As well as cherishing those we love, we need to cherish ourselves. I know that when I was drinking, not only did I not love myself, I didn't LIKE myself.
Drink took away my self-esteem. I would do embarrassing, shameful things when drunk that I would never do when sober, and this made me dislike the person I had become. I didn't like looking in the mirror.
Thus I drank more to get rid of the feelings of self-loathing etc. Vicious circle.........
This is common among alcoholics. I couldn't put myself through the trauma if I loved myself. And I don't believe many who hit the booze really hard love themselves, otherwise why would they do it?? It is such a selfish thing to do, as it not only hurts the person doing it but those around them, especially family. Alcoholism is a selfish illness!! And such a nasty one.
I had to forgive myself, and do esteemable acts to learn to love myself. It took effort, and parts of it were uncomfortbale.
It has been worth it, and recovery for me is all about the journey, not the destination.
    All the best people

    :hello:

Hi everyone, not AF today but planning to jump back on the wagon tomorrow.(thanks for scornig Miss P). Quiet on here today, perhaps it's the (relatively) sunny day!:rotfl:

eyeopener, don't worry, I've found money and calories very motivating. It's quantifiable like AF days or units so you can have a target to aim for. I do understand that counting units might help some of us but as an, 'all or nothing' sort of drinker I'm sticking to AF days.

eselt, great to hear from you. Have you all had swine flu or some other sort of ailment?

winebox, I keep repeating that all AF days count whether it's enforced by medication or 'voluntary'. Hope you're tooth's not too sore and medication kicking in (isn't there something you can take that's just to make you feel sick with alcohol?, nothing to do with flu or teeth or avthing?)

Budgie, what's this about the curry planned for Brick Lane WHAT ABOUT US!!!! We need to know dates and times. Your DS is a real sweetie taking time off to be a tour guide. Can't wait to meet him.

BHB, good that you're moving forwrd with FIL's funeral arrangements, 'closure' is a horrible americanism but I'm sure you know what I mean. Hugs to your darling wife.

Fedupski, good luck with presentation tomorrow.

Just booked a 20 day holiday for September so AF score for next month will be very, very low . Not to worry, let's deal with August first!
    Hugs to all :A

Well here I am grafting again ;)

2 for me now please Miss P. Done my back in today getting the beef out the oven. Not very macho so may have to tell people I caught the meat bare handed and had to wrestle it to the ground :p In a bit of pain at the moment but have work to keep me occupied until 6:30am

    Take care all

  • Pathetic attempt over the weekend, haven't had an AF day since Thursday. This is where I lose my way and the old pattern re-emerges. Got to put a stop to it tonight.

    Hello all,

Well sleep not to good (although better than 'boozy sleep'!) down to a huge plate of donner kebab meat + loads of chilli sauce at 9-30 last night....took a while to ahem...digest! Well night 5 is where last time I came a cropper (prior to joining this thread)...I have notes on my 'saved drink diary word doc' (!) & can see that i was feeling really down so that was the excuse....NOT TONIGHT!

Other 1/2 back 2morrow pm....not seen her for just under 4 weeks (ah the peace! But as she's not been well it's done her the power of good) so a bit of flat cleaning (!!!)...

Different corner..don't despair! Yoi've recognised it's 'a pattern'....so that makes you in control...we've all done it! New day & all that!
