I can't rid myself of the image of you upchucking on the bus before the doors opened; classy.

I did this on a British Rail train once, I knew I was going to be sick as soon as the train pulled away from Liverpool Street, Liverpool Street to Stratford is a long long way!!! If only the doors opened 5 seconds earlier. I managed to get the door, all over the floor and down the sleeve of my leather and sheepskin coat, right down to the elbow _pale_ that was a cool jacket to have 20 years ago I'll have you know....never did wear it again though :D

I can still see the faces of the people waiting on the platform to get on the train and me covering the window with vomit :rotfl: never been so embarrassed!! :o

    Snap,

I did this when I got on the wrong train coming home mega mega wrecked the other christmas, got on the train to go back to the station and chucked up in the doorway on the train at 8pm while the train moved. Eventually managed to find my way back home, supposed to meet my BF in the pub, unable to find it as so drunk couldn't remember what it was called even when in the pub couldn't find him or speak to him on the phone, lost my coat. Had a massive telling off when we got in and was made to sleep on the settee.

Oh yes the time I fell over in a pool of sick in a club early on in the night when absolutely wrecked

Now those days are long gone and will never ever be repeated :D

Partly gone due to this thread and all who contribute. Mainly gone due to me wanting them to go and change

    Morning all

Changing Ways, congratulations on the 10 weeks, that is an amazing achievement, please give us all some tips!

Mostly I followed the tips on this forum ;). I read the Allen Carr book about a month after I stopped, but it didn't really do much for me. Helped reinforce the messages I suppose.

I was lucky, I didn't have withdrawal symptoms apart from a few nights disturbed sleep. I started taking milk thistle and vitamin B complex when I stopped (probably should have been taking them while I was drinking now I come to think about it:o)

    So :
    1. try to avoid cues for drinking. In my case this was when I started to make the evening meal and had my first glass then downhill from then on in. I couldn't avoid doing the cooking so switched to ginger cordial and fizzy water. And when I finish eating I now leave the table, rather than sitting there with OH deciding to open another bottle. So now he sits there drinking alone instead:eek:. He has cut down a bit though, and doesn't leave the bottle on the table to tempt me.

    2. do something else instead. Go out for a walk, drink more of the fizzy water, have a blast of Wii tennis, email a friend - anything but housework:rolleyes:

    3. commitment. When I wake up every morning I remind myself that I'm not drinking that day and why - I have a whole list in my head. Once I passed the 6 week mark which is the critical time for breaking habits, I found I didn't need to do that so much, but I still do it from time to time as I am terrified of relapsing. My father died of drink, and I nursed him. And he made our lives very difficult for years before he became ill. I don't want my children to be in that position through my actions. I don't want to find out some day that I have done irreparable damage to my liver without even realising it, which can happen. I already had tenderness under ribs on right side. So I knew I'd have to give up some day, and that I was just postponing it.

    4. Go easy on yourself. My mantra is that I'm not going to drink today. It really is too hard to think never, even if that's the long term plan.

    5. Finally, if I'm not drinking, I deserve treats! So I have these with the money I've saved. Maybe not so moneysaving:o.

I know I could still come unstuck, and could easily take a drink absentmindedly if someone put one in my hand, or if something really bad happened. But three months ago if someone had told me I'd be AF for 10 weeks now, I'd have thought they were mad and that it was impossible. I feel like I've come a long way:j.
