    Hi Everybody

I've been lurking on this thread for ages and finally decided to post.

I decided to quit drinking about 3 weeks ago. I really had had enough. I was beginning to hate myself, i was buying booze knowing I didn't want it but drinking it anyway. I was spending about £400 a month maybe more on booze and wondering where why I was in so much debt! Doh.! Four cans of stella and a bottle of wine every night...........good grief. Now i'm in tremendous debt but if I remain off the drink I can make in roads into paying it off.

I was looking for some support, looked into AA but wasn't sure it was for me, considered going to the Doctor and confessing all but couldn't pluck up the courage to go and then, I was looking at the Motley Fool site one day and someone was in a similar situation and said they were reading a book and it seemed to help.

Well I bought it, I read it, read it again, read it again and everything seemed to fall into place. I seemed to have lost the desire to drink ( I think that is also mentioned by GraemeCarter on one of his posts), so far so good. Although I have gained a taste for CocaCola! So i'm saving my liver but my teeth will fall out.

So onwards and upwards,as it stands i'm feeling great but I have been here before but this time feels different.

I read all the posts by you lovely people who are working hard towards their own personal goals and doing tremendously well. The support that is given to people struggling is amazing. I know that I cannot have one drink in fact I don't even want one drink so that is why I have quit.

I will have my days of struggle so if I can join this wonderful place, so if or when my demons come back I can get advice or just some kinds words

Good luck to one and all

    YM,

That would normally sound really nice sort of:drool::drool:. However after reading the previous posts ( just hearing the word vomit .....makes me want to spew:eek:) I now don't fancy food atall and feel more_pale_ than .

Mmm.... perhaps that would be a good way of making me lose weight. Just get you lot to tell your tales of vomit ( OMG I have to close my eyes whilst typing that V word:rotfl:). I may never eat again. Perhaps someone should chuck in a wine glass and then I may never drink again:T:T Yeugh.:rotfl::rotfl:

BTW I am at work now and working really really hard:p .

    Catch you all later.

That is great news. Wow it shows how much money goes on drink doesn't it. I had a therapist tell me once that they had a few clients that were addicted to coca cola so I would watch that you don't have too much of it. (Seriously, I know it sounds ridiculous but I suppose coca cola is a drug of sorts as it contains so much caffeine.)

I am going to be AF today. Start the month off right!

Thanks for the kind words guys.

It would be just like me to quit one addiction (alcohol) and gain another one (coca cola!)

Incidentally my way, so far, hasn't been much different to Changing Ways but i'm in the very early days of my journey. I found the Allen Carr book and its worked for me but I can see how it wouldn't work for everybody.

    Onwards and upwards.

I've got the AC book, only read a chapter or two and put it down, maybe I'll give it another go. I think wasn't it you MP that swears by the AC book?

Right I'm off to do something productive now, haven't decided what yet though!

Take care all and speak soon.
