    :hello:

I'm envying all you bright eyed bushy tailed people this morning. I know this sounds crazy but almost (well...just a little) envying you all getting back to normal life after our excuse for a summer. But I have to go on holiday on Wednesday..well someone has to do it. Enjoy this one on me!

    Good morning everybody

Well, I can say there is no difference whether it is organic wine or not. Still don't feel 100% after my planned non AFD last night. Is it really worth looking forward to so much?

Oh dear, first day at new job tomorrow and DD2 has temperature of 102, headache, sickness and diarrhoea. I've phoned NHS Direct, and it's probably not swine flu, but it's a horrible virus. I can't not go tomorrow, I just hope she is feeling slightly better by then. And my Mum is in hospital at the moment undergoing gynae tests, so my poor elderly Dad needs our support too. These things really are sent to try us.

Budgie, you sound so un-chirpy at the moment. Like others have said, you care so much about other people, you really do. You don't deserve these problems. I fully, really, really, understand your marriage problems - you have been a fantastic support to your DH throughout the unemployment and depression. You do what feels right for YOU.

So to everybody having a hard time of things at the moment - THINGS CAN ONLY GET BETTER! THINGS COULD BE A LOT WORSE TOO. This time next week, I think the sun will be shining and we will all feel much more cheerful.

But for everybody not having a hard time of things at the moment - ENJOY!

Ps 5 afds for me, please YM - I would have to be a complete nutter to have a drink tonight!

    xx

PIR, hugs to you, I hope your DD only has a 24 hour bug and she's all better by tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow :) hope your mum gets on okay too :)

Jo - this is a staple in our house - we make it up after a roast chicken dinner for a tea/snacks the next few days - but you can use a couple chicken breasts. Its simple but nice

Chicken lemon cous cous with bacon

Plain cous cous (500g) (87p Mr T - I don't use the flavoured ones, I dont like them prefer to do my own)
    1 chicken stock cube
1 lemon or 10 slices from the lemon in a jar stuff in lemon juice (its great for cous cous so I have a jar specially for it)
    1 packet smoked bacon
    1 slosh of olive oil
1-2 chicken breasts (depends on how many you are feeding... and how flash you are feeling)
Seasoning as you like (if kids aren't eating it I chuck in chopped chillies as well)
Often add peas or sweetcorn (a hand full or two from frozen into the cous cous beffore you add the water)

    Boil kettle
Whole packet cous cous in pyrex or heat proof bowl
Crumble stock cube over dry cous cous and mix in
Pour boiling water over cous cous to cover and an extra 1cm of water at top
Put a plate on cous cous leave for 5-10 mins
Chop lemon slices up and leave in a big serving bowl with 2 tablespoons lemon juice or casserole big enough for hte monster cous cous experience (if using whole lemon - squeeze lemon into bowl, and chop a quarter of it into thin slices add to juice)
Pan fry chicken breast whole til just cooked and nice and brown on outside (use a garlic clove as well if you want some added depth to the chicken)
Grill bacon whole or pan fry
Chop all up into strips - dump into bowl with lemon - mix together
Use a tiny bit of water (1-2tbsp) to remove juices/fat/oil from pan/grill
Add juice from cooking to chicken bacon/lemon mix (the cooking juice/oil helps the cous cous not to be sticky and it helps add a real depth of flavour)
Use a fork to fluff up cous cous which should be perfectly cooked by now - da da no real cooking :) I love cous cous - so easy :)
Dump onto meat/lemon mix and mix thoroughly

Serve hot or cold - add more chicken if want to make the dish look lovely just slice up the pan fried chicken like in a posh restaurant and place on the top of the mixed up cous cous (without the chicken) - if doing it that way squeeze a lemon over the chicken breasts when they are ontop of cous cous :)

  • No manners - Hi DJ - welcome aboard

I think the best thing about not drinking is the lack of self loathing and paranioa in the mornings

JO - visions of a piggie boinging itself all over the place trying to be rubber :)

I usually make sweet sour pork and often try and do a stir fry with the left over meat or just freeze it for another sneaky roast pork dinner another time - or sandwiches :) yumm yumm after a roast pork dinner :) any help?

Just put in pork and it will give you loads of recipes - I see Martin has his mug shot on the website too :) that man gets everywhere :)

PS what a diverse and educational thread this is - maybe like Elset suggested we need a 'virtual' nightclass here now and again to keep us AF'rs busy :)

    Morning HB

I feel like I've been hit by a bus, Fri night/Sat morning I slept for exactly 12 hours, then last night did it again!! So since 11.30pm on Friday which was 36 hours ago I have slept for 24 hours and I'm still exhausted  this detox thing is killing me!

Still nice to not feel ill with it :D

    Have a lovely day :)

    xx

I was going to ask this. I have been 20 AF days in a row now and I have never felt so tired and empty of energy. I have a headache that wont shift and generally feel really lethargic

Thought I would feel full of life

Aww, big hugs to you YM

My BF gave up smoking a few months back & started going to the gym - technically now loads healthier but sleeping is shot to bits. Like I said to Jo, I think it takes time for the body to adjust.
