I feel the same on this issue.
I need beer and old behaviours out of my life. Fake beer is too much of a trigger I imagine, so I'd rather not risk trying it.

Each to their own however. Whatever works for may not work for another

As you say GC...each to his own.
I must admit that on hot sunny days I still sit in the garden with an AF Becks.....and I do enjoy it...but it doesnt make me crave the 'real thing'.
However...I can't seem to find a nice AF wine that I like so I still stick with lime cordial and sparkling water the rest of the time.
But I can still see the point as you say about getting old behaviours out of our lives.
As for having alcohol in the house....my OH still drinks whisky like a fish (if fishes drink whisky)so I have had to be really strong about that.

    FH.....So happy about your news.

Must get on now...catch you later

HS I have a huge problem with OH on this one; he seems to feel very uncomfortable if he's drinking & I'm not. He can't accuse me of being boring cos I can still talk non-stop for an hour or so, sober :D:D.

well I've got home from work & one load of washing is out on the line & all the bedding is in now. I've been such a slob lately; stuff gets done but it has all seemed such an effort I'm being dynamic now. I put up a new washing line (way overdue) but that was a rubbish effort - I pulled it really really taut, so now I can't reach it without jumping up, but as soon as I hang stuff on it it starts to sag, by the time I got to half-way I'm hanging stuff out at waist height, not feeling at all stupid.

Re: any alcohol in house: The organic foods shop near us is closing down and having 50% sale - I'd previously only been in to have a look around, so ridiculously expensive - but today I bought some bottles of organic white wine and some other bits and pieces. I won't be tempted to have any before weekend because of the target, but I will be interested to see if they have less of a hangover effect.

Can't believe the DDs are all back to school tomorrow :T

GC you make some very good points.
I am having a really crap day, I don't even know why, I just feel fed up. I've been the pub with DD for dinner and had a nice time, had a toasted cheese sandwich and a orange squash and as soon as I walked back into the house I felt completely fed up. Its not even about wanting a drink, I never drink in the day, but I know that being "fed up" will be a good excuse for a drink tonight:mad::confused:

I used to feel restless, irritable and just discontent a lot of the time.
Either fed up or angry, and I could never pinpoint the cause. A drink could relieve that feeling in the short term, though it would always return.

That shows you that alcohol isn't the main issue here, but life is the problem. Sort your life out and then the desire to drink is gone as you don't feel like that any more

    Hi all

I am wanting to cut down on drinking and feel some support would be really helpful! Started my own diary and, after a few days, was a bit :o about how often I said I was spending on booze.

Feel that my drinking of late has become more habitual. OH and I have fallen into bad habits - he's worse than me. I def drink over government guidelines but not VAST amounts. BUT, this amount is creeping up slowly. I would love to have more control - get fit, healthy and more wealthy!

So... looking to only drink on Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday (depending on plans for week).
