Hi All
Hugs to Sam.
I was just going to skulk on here but decided no, I have to own up, AF meant for me a failure last night, I saw the ex and I had 2 glasses of wine which is a lot less than I would normally have, but it oiled the wheels for me to say a few things to him that I have not been able to say before without being nasty (as I would normally be on drink), I think it has helped and we are definitely going to be friends and good friends at that I think,
I have decided also that anh1904 is right, when a relationship is broken, then if it definitely isn't right, move on with your life and that is what I intend to do and I am going to do it without the aid of the bottle every bloomin night as well !!!!!
So I am still on 4 days AF but in a strange kind of way, quite proud of myself as well.
Congratulations to all and I am definitely up for a AF Tuesday. Bring it on :T

Amen esalt.
I keep thinking "I'm not too bad with alcohol really", but when I add up the units.... most certainly 2 or 3 times the "safe" limit most weeks. As for OH - I monitored his intake for a month then presented him with the figures:D. He was between 70-80 units a week - and this was a month I chose specially cos there were no social obligations etc which he could blame it on. He was quite shocked but it's still a struggle to get him to cut down.
He does want to though, we both want to. Have managed 3 AF days so far. Tonight is looking dodgy as we have a friend coming round so OH may get some beers in. I shall put my foot down about anything harder eg vodka. If we can get used to a few glasses of wine occasionally then that would be ok.
We shall see! OH has complained about the boredom factor - but I have pointed out also how much we have managed to get done in the last couple of days while not being in "recovery".2015 wins: Jan: Leeds Castle tickets; Feb: Kindle Fire, Years supply Ricola March: £50 Sports Direct voucher April: DSLR camera June: £500 Bingo July: £50 co-op voucher0 -
Morning All:hello:
I managed AF night last night and feel quiet proud, going for an AF Tueday too. Cant believe it, two weeks on the trot and I've managed when I've put my mind to it. Big personal success after 5 years of a drink pretty much every night!! OH quiet proud of me too I think. Clear (ish) head this morning too. Tired tho as just dont seem to sleep as well on the few nights I've done alcohol free. Perhaps because when I drink, my sleep is smothered by the fact I'm drunk and not real sleep....and without the alcohol, my body is struggling to just let itself rest naturally. I'm sure it will come with time... I hope!
Sam, big hugs to you indeed. Maybe going away for a couple of days and letting things blow over is what you need, take a back seat and look at your relationship from all angles. Do as you've been asked and try NOT to text or phone. Try and stay sober (easy for me to say - pot calling kettle black and all that) but if you can, you are likely to see everything more clearly. If it gets too much and you feel like hitting the bottle, find an internet cafe / library etc and jump on here and have a chat with us all....we'll be thinking of you anyhow...xx
Wet again in Wales today (tho the sun is shining) bizzare country!!
Have a good day all..and THANKS again! xx:j0 -
Sam, I hope it all works out for you xx

Uurrghh, my day is getting worse.
Work is horrendous today. Just taking 5 minutes to try and get my head together - it's all getting on top of me today. Don't feel like I am coping today.
Trying to ignore the craving to blot it all out by having a few drinks tonight. I know it will only make me feel worse overall, but that doesn't stop my current desire for those "f*ck it" drinks tonight.
My irrational head is telling me I can leave the feeling poo bit until tomorrow, to worry about it then, but my rational head obviously knows that if I drink tonight, tomorrow is likely to be a VERY bad day indeed.
On a separate note, sorry to hear of your relationship problems, Sam, I hope it works out one way or the other and you can get to a happier place, either in the relationship or away from it. Incredible that you have stayed AF too, really fantastic.
I will check in later, guys. Just needed a bit of a whinge.
Hugs,
Caz
