  • Hmmm, not feeling overly perky this morning, unfortunately. Sort of know why but sort of don't, IYKWIM.

It is partly because someone I know has gone downhill very fast with her cancer and she is going into a hospice today. The docs have only given her a short time to live - maybe 2 weeks. So that is extremely sad. She is the nicest, kindest, most generous, selfless person you could ever meet and she always did a lot for everyone else. Why do horrible things have to happen to such fantastic people???

Anyway, still AF I'm pleased to say :T

Talking of money spent on boozing, I've very roughly worked out that I must have been spending between £175 - £225 just on my own booze every month (as you know, my OH doesn't really drink), which is terrible. Hard to tot up, as I often nipped to the local offy for my secret half bottles of voddy, which were a good £1.50 more expensive than the supermarket. 3 or 4 of those per week on top of "usual" boozing adds up!

Anyhooooo, got to do some work now. Will pop back later.

    Hugs and love,
    Caz

An evening in front of the HD showing of the Liverpool Aston Villa game, and alcohol free with it. Very pleased with myself.

  • Morning All

Managed an AF yesterday. Wasn't planning on it to be honest. It just happened. Mr FH didn't have beer in and didn't go out for, so that helped. He wanted to list some stuff on Ebay so once the kids were in bed I helped with that. Then he started watching some rubbish on the tv (oh how I miss having control of the remote :rotfl:) So I decided to go up to bed and read my book.

It was a quick evening! Was wakened by DS2 at around 2am. He was shouting out "my body, my body" Turns out he had kicked his covers off and wanted them back up over his body :rotfl:I love it when they find all their words. I remember the language explosion with DS1. Such fun!

I'm in work, busy, busy, busy. Have a nice day everyone.

    Much love X
    Need to start again :o
  • Morning

15 days AF for me please.

Managed to stay AF last night, very very difficult though. Had a huge row with OH which has continued this morning resulting in her telling me she won't be there when i get home and i'm not to text or phone her.

I probably won't be on here for a few days now as i'm probably going to stay back at my parents so won't be able to get on the net.

    Best of luck everyone.

    Sam
    AF since 06/02/2010

Sam, I hope the situation is resolved in a way that is right for you.
Too many people instantly think that a broken relationship should be fixed, but if it is not right, from either side, then best move on and try to find one that is.
Live for the future, not stuck in the past, so to say.

Hi all-good to see so many bright and breezy this morning. Hugs to Sam, hope having a cooling off period today means you can work something out-try not to hit the bottle, its so tempting when relationships are going through a rough patch. Take care.

The amount of money spent on alcohol is staggering really-after all, alcohol is a bit of a luxury and should be a treat rather than an essential-if we said we were spending £400 a month on treating ourselves to chocolate people would quite rightly think we were insane?! When I was at my worst I still always found money for alcohol, the only consession I would make would be that when I had money it was vodka and nice wine, and when I didn't it was just vodka (more hits for your money?!!?), and the days before payday were spent quaffing litres of rough white cider. In the end WHAT I was drinking didn't really matter to me, I didn't care if it was 'nice' wine or rough cider, as long as I had something in my system at all times. I reckon I was spending £20 a day (2 bottles of vodka) at my worst, plus a night out on fri/sat with taxi (anything between £30-60), and what did I get out of it? Eeeerrr.....I got very ill and got into a lot of debt...not good value for money really peeps?? I can't think of any other LEGAL thing that humans do which involves the logic of 'I'm going to spend thousands of pounds on this, and do it more and more, and spend more and more, until I'm very ill, have lost everyone close to me, and have no money'.

I suppose its finding something to replace alcohol for a lot of us, its/has been such a huge part of our lives. I always drank more when I was bored, so finding ways to fill my time with things that distract me, I enjoy, but don't involve alcohol has been really hard. What do others do to keep them from giving in? I know a lot of us volunteer to drive, socialise but say we are on meds etc., but has anyone got any long term tips? (GC, RA, Molly.....?)

    Catch you all later.
