Evening everyone
Glasgowgirl - I can SO identify with what you have just gone through. GC is very right when he says sometimes we have to feel the pain before we make that decision. YOU know you are doing the right thing. You are so lucky it was a good friend. At least you know they will support you in your decision. Best of luck with it - maybe we can try and keep each other on the straight and narrow!:T
Budgie - you are so sweet. Piglet would have adored to have you (fairy wings and all) at his little picnic. I wouldn't mind so much myself but he makes me sit on the rug and eat raisins and chopped up banana off of tiny plastic plates!!
69chick - Lots of hugs. Hope you aren't feeling too poorly!
Fay - Happy birthday to DD! A teenager...scary!!
Well another AF night in the Piggy household. I rushed home from work so I could put Piglet to bed. Was on the third story when he quickly closed the book and very firmly said "I'm sleeping now Mummy". Mmmm...think his new Gung Ho Mummy is tiring him out!:rotfl:
Well off up the apples and pears for me. ((Hugs)) to all those that need them. **waves** to everyone else!
Miss P

glasgowgirl wrote: »Evening folks,
Well I had a mulligan on Friday and felt so ashamed that I'm only able to write about it now. Went to the pub after work for 'just the one' as I had a friend coming for dinner. Ended up getting absolutely pi**ed, friend arrived at my house and had to phone me as I was still in the pub. I turned up god knows how much time later with a bag of random takeaway things - nothing you could call a meal - and had to be put to bed.
What a way to treat a friend. I am so ashamed of my behaviour. I believe that I'm a good person but alcohol - that first glass - changes me so dramatically and after that first glass there's no going back.
Feeling very positive now as have been AF since and have decided to do a Miss P and cut the alc out of my life.
As our wise GC I think has said - if you don't have that first drink, you can't get drunk.
One day at a time...
PS - 69chick - sending you get well soon wishes and hugs.
Thank-you for your honesty. It helps everyone else.
Cut out the booze and you will never have an embarrassing episode like this again. There is no reason why anyone anywhere HAS to drink ever again. However, as you rightly say, just don't drink one day at a time. Don't drink Tuesday - that's all you need to do when you wake up tomorrow.
Wednesday is not a concern now. Just concentrate on tomorrow. You can go a day without a drink. And that's what you're going to do tomorrow :T0 -
I'm doing pretty crap at this AF lark, I think I should be shot..
2 options:-
1) Carry on drinking, or like what's happening now, have a few weeks drinking, then stop for a period, and start again. This I am sure is getting depressing, and must feel out of control.
2) Try something different - Doctors, Alcohol counselling, Rehab, Hypnotism, CBT, AA, etc
Even though you are a treasure on this thread, it is not working (after over half a year) for you so perhaps look elsewhere for help.
If you really want to quit, you'll do anything.
You may not be ready yet - some people need to carry on drinking to test their desire to drink. They may seek help when they have lost families, jobs, friends, etc
Sometimes they don't do everything in their power to stop and they die.
I am not suggesting this is you, but alcoholism is a killer illness.
It'll take away the things you love, then your dignity, then your health.0 -
69chick, I hope you'll feel a bit better tomorrow after your medication and a good night's sleep.
BHB, I'm so impressed that you've jumped right into AF mode. Well done.
I'm not AF today, should have been but I did some work for someone and they insisted on taking me out as a thank-you. Tomorrow is a planned drinking day too.
Goodnight all:A.0 -
Morning all:hello:
Jo Please put me down (perhaps should just stop there :rotfl:) as 7 AFD.
69chick I really hope you are beginning to feel better . I know how hard it is to look after the little ones when you are poorly. You amaze me how you still manage to do budgie-type posts when you are so ill. Another angel in our midst:A:A.
BB Thanks for asking after me. I am honestly ok just really busy as will only be working afternoons from tomorrow until beginning of September so am desperately trying to get ahead of myself.
Miss P You are doing so well . Keep up the good work.:T:T Please keep
posting tales of piglets ..... he is so adorable ... and so are you;)
BHB I hope you and your family are ok. Well done on the AFness:T
Jo1972 Please don't shoot yourself . We love you:T. Thank you for doing the scores - I know it is not easy !!
Hi everyone else:hello:
The toothfairy paid us ANOTHER visit last night. She was here last week for DS2 and she had to return last night for DS3 . He lost his FIRST tooth. Bless.
Last day of school today. Not quite sure how I feel about that yet:rotfl::rotfl:. There will be tears from the boys this evening as they ALWAYS cry when they leave one teacher as they feel they will really really miss them:D By September they have forgotten all about it .:rotfl:
Next month I think I will stop counting AFD and count units or bottles of wine or something. Its just that counting the days sometimes works against me .... I must finish this bottle tonight so that I can have one AFD instead of 2 IYSWIM. Or I am not wasting an AFD on a glass of wine!!
It would be far healthier for me to spread the wine over 2 or poss days and have 3 AFDS instead of 1 . At the moment , if I do that I think that I have failed. I hope I am making sense:o Don't worry I don't expect the scorer to count my units as well as AFDS ( that is hard enough). Who is the scorer by the way ???
Wow , this is a long post for me . I feel like I have been neglecting you all of late!!
Better stop chatting and get in the shower.
Have a lovely day everyone.;)

Morning all, I am feeling a bit better today, but my throat is really really sore...kids will be here till 12.15 when I have them booked into the nursery this afternoon and ds will go to work wit his Dad..
The worst part of this is that we started to decorate ds bedroom on Saturday, it was meant to be painted sat and furniture put together/sorted Sunday...well today it still has not had the painting finished obviously dh is looking after the kids when he is here instead of doing it..our landing is full of ds toys/clothes etc...so to get to dd's bedroom you have to climb over stuff, the bathroom is also out of bounds and we have ds on a mattress on our floor so our bedroom looks like a squat!!
GG well done on your decision to be af, I am sure your friend can forgive you and its great that you said actions speak louder than words as I am a big believer in that... I am seriously considering it myself, I am going to try to get in the mindset that GC suggests of 1 day at a time.
Budgie I love fairys what a great idea to do a fairy hamper...think I might do them for my little girls...Starting with Avon C6 target sales £150.000
