Also some users thank any post on the thread they're on and I personally I do the same.

Therefore it might be better that in the arms the thanks facility should go.

However, as I said before, I think it should stay in DT where it is used more judiciously and topics are often useful and interesting.

I have to confess that I thank everything on my threads in DT because I genuinely appreciate people's thoughts on the subjects I post on. Having said that, I skip posts that I specifically don't appreciate (very rare) and sometimes if the thread goes on over several pages, I run out of steam. :o

Completely off topic there seems to be some suggestion that people are given r'spect based on how many posts they have done - I look at people with more than 60 posts a month and wonder what sort of life they have... ;)
;) Ah thanks not a board i frequent...thought maybe something for the benefits board, but it would be easier with one banner than a link in every sub forum.

    Great ideas Martin :)

Especially flagging the newbies, red cards etc. Maybe also include the grammar police in the red card system? Not everyone is perfect at the English language for whatever reasons & being picked up on it constantly can be humiliating.

At the top of the page, on the left, there is a little blue downwards arrow, if you click it you got to the last post you read. HTH

May I take this opportunity to say I Hope your hand feeels better soon & thanks for all your moneysaving help over the years x

Many thanx to the posters who told me what PPR means - I would never have worked that out!

I've read all the posts here briefly, but as far as I can see it doesn't address what I think is a problem.

The star system is flawed. If I post a comp, I get "credited" with one post. If some-else replies along the lines of "this is mine" or "I would love to win this" or in short not something that contributes to the comp, just a bit of chatter (which I do enjoy, so please dont misunderstand) they also get "credited" with one post. The driving force of this board is the comps which are posted but IMHO not enough credit is given to the people who take the time to search them out, or watch the programmes, or read the mags etc. I have noticed that some people will always "add" to a thread but rarely if ever post a comp - but the posts add up just the same.
Reading this back, I probably haven't explained that very well, so I hope its understandable. :o

Think you have explained it very well, the highest posters on reading the board seems to be a mixture of us who chat in the 'inn' a lot or post 'well done' in the IWIWIW, whereas i would have thought the star system/highest posters would be those like yourself & a few others who post every day new competitions, but some of their names don't show on there  some of them do but there's a lot that don't ?

I love the idea of the newbie bubble...I only joined a couple of months ago and still feel really new and there's loads I still don't quite understand and would love to ask...maybe the newbie bubble could be for a certain amount of time - eg 3 months after joining instead of the number of posts?

    Started Comping May 2009...2009 total: £995. 2010 total: £5541. 2011 total: £4835. 2012 total: £6220 2021 total (restarted Oct 2021): £1000 2022 total - £44
Thank you to everyone who posts competitions

I myself have had some nasty messages aimed at me and tbh it has made me not post on alot of occasions. I think its a good idea the yellow and red cards. Sometimes people post in the wrong place, I did and got abuse for it, then the main culprit went back on what they said and voted for someone else. I think this will make the forum more friendly and thats a good thing

I think this refers to me. Layla, if you consider I was abusive, please report it, I am happy for someone else to judge the thread.

    Dear Martin Lewis

Now that you are probably the second richest and famous man in the world (after Ryanairs Michael O'Leary), couldnt you maybe get your programmers to make an "online breathalyser" that maybe limits sarcastically or abusively answering newbie questions like the daily " Wheres the best place to buy Euros/$ etc" or "shall I buy now or will the rate go up?"

I reckon 50% of the not nice answers are when folk are pi55ed.

A 50% improvement in anything is pretty impressive IMO
