The newbie flag should be extended from 3 posts, IMO.
I agree with this, as many newbies would use up their first three posts in one thread alone.
perhaps linking it to length of (active) membership or maybe even their first few (3?) threads might be more apt. Perhaps an alternative would be to generate an automatic signature for their first X posts (although i accept the success of that is depedant on other users having signatures enabled).
there will never be a one size fits all solution to this problem due to the different posting habits of users, but i do feel that 3 posts is insufficient. goodluck whatever you decide :beer:know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -

Thanks Korky, I saw that but what I meant was making the title of that thread bigger and more noticeable because a lot of people just click past messages like that in haste to post due to confusion when everything looks the same and incredibly daunting. If that post was highlighted as different by a different formatting on the forum it might direct people to it rather than just to post first....................does that make sense?Just become FTBs & Aiming to be mortgage free by 2034
Thank you to all who post on the comps/freebies forums you've helped us save our deposit :money:0 -

That was in our meeting too - and is being done - not a policy change though.Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.

Going back to the BG thing, rather than giving them more "powers" I think a good idea would be to give them free reign over the boards, I know if I was a guide on a board and saw something going on over a board I had no control of it would frustrate me. Also a lot of BG's get singled out for deleting threads or posts, if others could handle other boards then this would happen less.Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0

Completely off topic there seems to be some suggestion that people are given r'spect based on how many posts they have done - I look at people with more than 60 posts a month and wonder what sort of life they have...

I admit I do post quite a lot as I like to come on here and unwind by comping & chatting in the Inn. I do however post comps too & also thank most posts out of kindness for posting and also to know where I am on my return to the forums. I also like to look in the IWIWIW to see what folks have won and I often venture over to Freebies/bargains or other parts of the forums so I feel it is important to have the thanks button as a way of being nice to OP's. It's also nice for a newbie to be thanked too, (unless it was abusive post), this way it would boost their confidence and they would be made to feel more welcome.Big thanks to all who contribute to the forums. Be lucky everyone and be safe!0 -

Perhaps cap the post count indicator to 1000, so as not to intimidate the newbies with post counts of 5000+:j0
