This trucking video might interest and encourage you and give you a good idea of driving in the USA - and the story behind it is very inspiring. This is from the creator's "About" on YouTube:
"I was born and raised in Poland, I moved to America in February 2000. I brought nothing but hope, hope for better life. I worked as a housekeeper, bartender, worked in a bakery and supervised apartment buildings, just to survive and make my living. Fascinated by big trucks, always wanted to drive one. Came through a long and dusty road to make my dream come true.

In January 2002 I became professional driver, started working local, pulling piers containers, later on that year I went driving for a small company over the road, mostly hauling goods to Ohio and bringing food back to tri-state area. In 2006 I started with a new company doing long haul and right away I knew this what I wanted do. The west coast is my favourite part of the country. California is my love :)

Being a very independent person in January 2011 I decided to buy my own truck. I'm proud to be an owner-operator and proud to be trucker ."

(edited slightly by me for readability)

This video starts in Montana and works down to California. I think it gives a very good idea of the varied country, roads and towns in the west.

Does anybody have any advice on how to reduce the amount you sweat?

My back is the main culprit, it generally drips when I am over there.

I haven't walked up the middle of Main St. USA for ages, I generally go through the shops as they are much cooler. Is heading for the AC the wrong decision?

    hi

    can anyone help with this,

our travel agent has included 14 days passes for IOA, Universal and Wet and Wild,

does anyone know, when we get there, can we upgrade them to express, or can you only do that on a daily basis

when i last visited, we had bought passes seperatly to the holiday, and then we bought a one day express, is there such a thing as a 14 day express?

    tia.

Day by day I'm afraid & it ain't cheap

Some book a night at an onsite Universal hotel, Royal Pacific resort, Portofino Bay or Hard Rock hotel but not the cheaper Cabana Bay one.

This gives you express passes for the length of stay, so 2 days for a 1 night stay and probably wouldn't be any more expensive than just buying the passes for 2 days. Not sure how early you can check-in and if you choose to get a car they charge for parking, even if you are staying there.

I was thinking of doing this, (https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4979473) and was referred here http://www.macworld.co.uk/news/apple/why-you-shouldnt-buy-us-iphone-uk-3481491/
Apparently it's not a good idea, all to do with fragmented networks.
