The only thing they are raving on about is marvel adventure land at Universal, so this is an absolute must for you if they are into this sort of thing. Even at 4, we spent days in the this bit of the park as there were always new superheroes or xmen or vilians about!
Our youngest loves the superheros so I will def look into getting tickets. Can anyone suggest the best ticket to buy and where is best to buy it from? Thanks0 -
I think we will be sticking with public transport, car hire seems a lot more hassle considering we don't have a credit card for back-up or anything. We will probably be doing a bit of both parks, depending on if we can afford Disney or not. I'll definitely be buying Universal tickets since they are considerably cheaper!
I should have said our £3,500 includes spends plus any extra we manage to put away before then.
I'm finding deals for hotel and flights for the 2 of us for around £800-900 each. Is that quite good? Not sure if it includes transfers though.
Oh it's good to know you can fly direct from Glasgow on Saturdays and Sundays.
It certainly is very possible to holiday in Orlando without a car for whatever reason (cost ,age, don't drive etc). Be selective which Hotel you stay at as some offer shuttle services to parks.
Some go to all parks ,some to certain ones. Some hotels offer this free, some there is a charge. Do your homework and be prepared to compromise a little and you will easily find your way around without the NEED for a car. The Dibb is a great source of info as is this site. Ive been to Orlando 8 times and only driven 4.
Above all else have a great time. I,m sure you will!0 -

Christmas in Orlando
We're off to Florida for Christmas/New Year, and will be in Orlando on 23/24/25 December before heading off to the Keys on Boxing Day. Not my ideal timing, but with our offspring at Sixth Form and University, we're tied to school/uni holidays and need to avoid exam revision times! We have been to Orlando a few times before, but this was over ten years ago, so we're a bit out of touch.
I've had to pay pretty much the going rate for our flights (gulp!), but have managed to save on the car rental and Orlando hotel by using our Avios points. So far, so good! The family have voted that our three days in Orlando will be spent at Disney/Hollywood, Universal/IOA, and Seaworld - I'm guessing that I won't be able to save a huge amount of money by buying one day passes in advance, but also guess that as that's a busy time of year the amount of time saved by having bought tickets in advance will be worth it?
What I'm really hoping to do is to pick anyone's brains who has been to Orlando over Christmas before. Anything we simply must not miss? Any evening entertainment that would be suitable for a family with a 17 and 19 year old? Any other tips? The kids say they're not too bothered about going out on their own when we are in Orlando (not sure the same could be said when we get down to the Keys!), so something we could all enjoy together would make for a great Christmas treat.
Thanks in advance!0 -

Hi we have always bought our tickets from Floridatix their UK based and the tickets normally come within a few days and they are normally the cheapest we have found for park tickets hope that is a help.:)0 -
Thanks Karen, I've been looking at a villa as I feel they offer better value for money instead of hotel rooms. We are looking at 4 adults, 1 child.
We've been looking at floridabee and ownersdirect. Do you know of any other good value ones? We've been looking at the £400 per week mark. I'm thinking that this is relatively good value but can someone confirm that this is an ok price?
Thanks will be given to all replies... Thanks
Hi Tony try expedia or ebookers if u can leave it to book villa until about 6-8 weeks before u are due to travel u will get it far cheaper we do this every year there are always loads to choose from .We went for three weeks last October 4 bedroom villa Coral cay which was a lovely quiet resort in Kissimmee we were £500 total for the villa NOT per person the prices for villa rental always fall the nearer u get to your holiday dates0 -

Hi all, probably been asked a million times before but I am planning to make my two children 5 and 8 to Florida in the next couple of years and to make it happen we will need to start saving now. I could do with a realistic cost including everything we will need to go in the summer school holiday late July/August for 2 weeks including car hire, spends, park tickets etc but in budget accommodation and budget food prices. If anyone could give me a rough idea of how much they have budgeted then that would be great,

Hi everyone!!
We are going to Florida in March 2014, 2 adults and 3 children, aged 14, 10 &5. We have already booked our flights with BA and have money sorted for car hire & villa hire. I need some advice on how much spending money I should save, we are spending a week in Orlando & will be doing a day at Disney, 2 days at Universal, 1 day at seaworld, 1 day at DC and a day at either blizzard beach or typhoon lagoon. We are then driving down to Fort Myers Beach to spend a week down there, just relaxing & chilling out!! I was thinking about £3-3,500 should be enough, is this about right? Also because we are only planning to spend a day at Disney & a couple of days at Universal would it be easier to purchase our park tickets when we are over there or prior to when we go? Sorry for all the questions but this is our first time going to Florida so I have no idea lol!!0 -
Got back from Orlando last week after spending 2 weeks there. Had the time of our lives. Best 2 weeks ever, words can't describe it.
RE spending money - for 2 adults we spent £2000 on food, some clothes, photos, discovery cove DVD package, taxi's etc - we could have definitely spent less if we had too, we tipped when eating out and didn't go without (we weren't watching penny's).0
