Hi we have done Disney Florida a couple of times now, and absolutely love it. We fancy doing universal a couple of days as kids older now as well as Disney. Can you cover it in 2-3 days, and what sort of cost for tickets ????0

Can anyone help...
My sister wants to go to wdw next year, stay onsite. 2 adults 2 childrenn (9,11) probably an allstar resort as the best value, but a resort with a free dining plan might be better overall value. October next year 14 days, no car needed, with disney passes. Im on ipad and its a real pain looking at every site, if theres any TA here whats the best you can come up with0 -
michala31 You can cover Universal in 2 to 3 easy I would say.
I went last month to WDW and Universal, we went for a week (loved it!!) Universal has 2 parks we did both in a day I imagine if you have kids and make a number of stops to eat drink then you may need 2, we did not rush round and ate once in the day and managed both in the day.
Prices - We bought our tickets for Universal from FLoridaTix and it cost us roughly £200 for both of us for a 2 park 2 day ticket. We loved Disney but slightly preferred Universal to be honest.0 -

You definitely could not do both parks in a day at busy times (well you could, as long as you don't go any rides)

Wife and I are returning to Florida in early September for our 6th wedding anniversary. We're taking our 3 yr old son for his first visit and our well-crafted itinerary has plenty of "rest days" in between the Disney madness.
However, I imagine that staying by the pool at All-Star Sports is not going to be the most restful place.
So my question is this - what do we do on Rest days?
Is Typhoon Lagoon restful?
Or the Malls?
Or a trip to Old Town in Kissimmee?
What about an airboat ride?
A drive to the coast?
Also, does anyone have any experience of taking a buggy AND a car seat on the plane? Are there extra charges?0 -
Ive taken both on the plane, but I cant remember if there where any extra charges. The car seat was like a large booster with a back for my then 2 1/2 year old and the booster seat for my five year old. Both fitted into a large holdall. The buggy got damaged slightly on the plane but not enough for it not to work properly.
Hope that helps for part of your questions, I'm sure somebody will be along soon to answer more.LBM 04/10:j

We are travelling on Virgin with our son who will be 10 months old at the time and we can check a car seat and a buggy for free. Charges will depend on your airline. I am a little concerned about potential damage to the carseat but given he will be moving up to his next car seat around that time, I think it is a risk I may be willing to take given is around $10 a day to rent a car seat!0 -

Annoying newbie here with question you have all probably been asked a million times.
Am considering taking my husband and baby to Orlando in late September.
I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations of travel companies to use that may be cheaper for booking a package than Virgin or Disney?
We have looked at Thomson and Thomas Cook but they dont fly on dates we want to so dont work.
So far we are looking at £2500 for Virgin flights from Manchester and 10 nights in WDW resort Port Orleans.
Does this sound reasonable, will we be able to find cheaper?
Thanks all!
(PS I know its crazy to take a baby under 1 to Florida - lots of reasons to do it tho as well)
We took our children when they were 1, and had no problems. Plus it doesn't cost much to take them - they don't eat much and it is free for them to et into the parks. Just make sure you use plenty of sunscreen, take a buggy, and a sunhat, and if they get too hot then go into a shop or something to cool down. Have fun0 -
Mrs Ellabella. We took ours at 6 months. In one way its great as she couldn't go anywhere. We went with my brother and his wife which meant that we didn't have to do the rides alone. not sure I would have enjoyed it so much if I was doing the rides alone although plus point to that is there is a single rider lane at most rides which is quicker. Also I bought travel products from Mothercare which were great. They had bags with a steralising tablet in it. Just added water and baby bottles and hung it on a door handle. Also they had a little container to measure milk powder into so that you could just take a bottle of water with you and add powder when needed.
Just back from Orlando yesterday - totally shattered, need a holiday to recover from holiday.
Anyway, discovered Disney have installed a new entry system called (I think) one touch. It accepts tickets which are like credit cards. I bought tickets before we went which are the size of credit cards but are paper.
You can still use them but you need to go to one particular lane (seemed to be the one on the extreme left at each park) or you can go to guest services where they will change them to the new type.
The lines to use the old one were always long so we changed ours which really did only take a couple of minutes to change 4 cards.
For anyone who is interested, we stayed at Enclave Suites. It was really handy to International Drive for anyone who does not take a car (like us). Apartments are in need of some renovation but it was clean and the staff were friendly and as we never spend much time in the accommodation it was grand.
Another thing we noticed this time is that everything is more expensive than the last time we were there which I suppose is to be expected. We ate in the Rainforest Cafe in Animal Kingdom and for two kids and two adults, main course, one beer, 3 soft drinks it was 98 (including tips). We eat in Rainforest every time we go and got a bit of a shock this time. Fantastic food though.
Ponderosa all you can eat breakfast is now $6.99 for adults but still great value to set you up for a day round the parks.
Time to start saving for next trip.
PS: Also did Discovery Cove for the second time. Absolutely fantastic. Had booked a cabana this time and to be honest wouldn't dream of doing it again unless we got a cabana. Part of it was shaded (fo me) and part in the sun (for hubby) so both happy and the peace a quiet was lovely after several days of crowded parks.0
