having caught up with the posts i have to say i agree with disney cd about virgin!

we had awful meals on both flights one totally cold egg and ham in a bun!! we were totally cramped into our seats and i am almost certain they had reduced the legroom(economy) they were older planes to ones we have been on and the cabin crew were awful coming back although very nice going out.
i dont think we will be flying again with them if we can help it to be honest although we are coming up with a good price for next year on travel city direct but its virgin so unsure. any tips on good companys would be very much apprecieated although flights are not coming up yet as its over the 355 days to when we want to go.

Do you think by any chance they were really the old Travelcitydirect planes done with the Virgin livery? We've done both n wouldn't go on a TCD plane ever again, so cramped but our virgin was fab!
It has entered our minds to go back with TCD following their takeover, thinking would be virgin planes, but hub wouldn't hear of it!

to be honest i never thought of that! you could be quite right the seats looked really old and some were grey and some red i can def say its never been like that and we have flown virgin loads. we booked it through an indeopendant travel agent with virgin flights so only they would know!! a bit cheeky really isnt it.

  • Hi all, just to let everyone know im back, from my florida holiday. It was fabulous!! but i was shocked at how much everything had gone up in price, apart from food, which is still fantastic value for money. And i do definately agree with the poster, about virgin, i too was very disappointed with my cold egg & ham sarnie:rolleyes:. was'nt very impressed with the service much either, no better than other airlines, in my opinion. But florida is still as fab as ever, but was surprised to see how quiet international drive was, we went out to old town kissimmee, a few times an that was rocking!!:D Good luck an good holidays to anyone going soon :D.

I doubt if Virgin are using the old TCD/XL aircraft they were quite old. But I have to agree Virgin has gone down a long way and they cannot just blame it on the recession. Its not only the MCO flight but Las Vegas too!!! Service is quite poor. Coming back in 2008 I was having trouble breathing a stew. saw that and asked if I was ok I mumbled 'no' and she went away!! I now know that I could have had oxygen and it perhaps would have saved me 9 days in Redhill Hospital!!! At least I would have been able to get to my local hospital.

  • Hi,

Can anyone confirm the cost of parking at parks other than Disney. I know Disney charge $12.00 to park, but do Sea World, Busch Gardens, Universal and Islands of Adventure? I've had a look on The Dibb and cannot seem to find any info.

I've got 12 days in Florida, and I plan to do AK, HS, Epcot, MK, Universal, IA, Seaworld, Busch Gardens, Cape Canaveral and a waterpark.

Is there anything else that is a must do?

    many thanks,
    Judy

    Good grief! That is terrible!

On the subject Virgin using the old TCD planes, I am certain the "new" TCD (ie Virgin) only operate on VA planes. The old TCD/XL planes weren't bought by Virgin, only the "name" and marketing lists etc I believe.
  • I flew with Virgin last year and my poor niece was sick over 6 times on the return flight. They were really helpful even though I kept having to press the buzzer for assistance. ( I couldn't get up as there was turbulence). They even gave my niece some of the pyjamas they have as she had been so good through the flight.

I do think that the little things like the choc ices etc make the difference. Don't get me wrong if there was a flight that was £100 cheaper then I would take it but if prices are the same then the added extras would previously have influenced me to go with Virgin. Only reason I am going this time ids because I am suing Tesco vouchers :D
