I am looking to stay in the Gulf Coast area (possibly Treasure Island / Clearwater area) for a few days in late August. I would like a two bed apartment style property if possible. Does anyone have any recent experience of good properties worth looking at. I have a max budget of £600 for three nights.

    cheers:beer:

A bit further but we did 3 nights in December at Rotonda West and went to Sarasota and Boca Grande....beautiful :)

AMI is supposed to be heaven on earth though..worth looking at !

Hello. Just dipping into this vast thread to see if there are any experiences (good and bad) of the Old Key West resort? We're DVC members and this is our first trip back to WDW since we purchased. Looking at the map, it looks like we are able to walk to Downtown Disney, is this right? Or do we need to take a shuttle? Many thanks.

Hi Sammy_Girl, sorry it's taken me a while to answer. Yes you can walk to DTD from OKW, however - and I think this is a relatively new thing - the path is now closed from dusk. To go to DTD you can either take the bus, which runs approx every 20 mins, or the boat, which runs from 11am to 11pm, approx every 20-30 mins depending on time of day. There are 4 bus stops in OKW and all will go to DTD, however to get the boat you need to go to the boat dock, which is to the rear of Hospitality House. The boat now goes to the boat dock at what used to be Pleasure Island rather than the one by the Rainforest Cafe, but there's a shuttle across to there and West Side if you want to use it.

Any other questions re OKW, feel free to ask. As KarenG says we own there and have spent over a year at OKW in total so we know it pretty well:o.

I should say, one other benefit from OKW is that it now has free in-room wifi. It is supposed to work by the pools too, but I tried to use my netbook by the pool at Turtle Pond while doing my laundry and it didn't work. Because it is wifi rather than the old fixed connection, they can no longer work out who is a member and who isn't, so it should in theory be free for everyone. Good news for BM if ever she stays there again as well as for Karen not using points.

I agree with everything else Karen said about likes and dislikes. Sums the place up nicely.

And finally.... While we were last there in Jan, they were having problems with scammers pretending to be people visiting for lunch and then delivering pizza leaflets door to door. The leaflets were a scam. People would phone up, give their credit card details, the money would be withdrawn and they'd never get any food. I've never seen security go into overdrive to such an extent. The long and the short is that if you get any leaflets and they aren't from Disney, don't use them and let Disney know. Plus anyone else who is reading this and not visiting OKW, its a useful scam to be aware of as the same people will doubtless target other resorts, possibly outside of Disney.

Hi all we're not long back from an amazing trip to Orlando and thought id update on how it went.

Decided not to rent a car, thanks to all that said it wouldnt be nessessary as we got on absolutely fine without and i do think we saved alot of money also. We got taxis to and from airport and on the odd occasion where the shuttle times were too late. Travelling with a 9 month old baby, we just had to request one with a car seat. Wasnt too keen on Mears taxis tbh, noticed they went the long way round to get extra money, werent very chatty and didnt really like the 20 signs everywhere about the 15-20% tip :o. Anywho we stayed on the 192 and it was a FAB location! All the resteraunts we could ever want just a walk away. We only went to seaworld and Magical kingdom in the end as again, with a small baby theres only so much he's interested in. Really reccommend the Premium outlet on Internation drive if you're into shopping, we picked up quite a few bargains, the smaller one was good too (didnt get to go to any malls :() So glad we went now as it was a more relaxing trip and we know what we want to pack in for when DS is older so can do ALOT more like all you guys are planning.

    Disney Tickets - Help
We are going to Florida in June all park tickets (we had decided not to go to Disney) paid for.
My 13yr old daughter decided last night that she would like to go to Disney after all. Looking at the costs it will be another £750 for 3 day passes for 5 of us.
But on ebay you can buy a book and it says you can get disney tickets for a tiny fraction of the price you pay on the internet.
Has anyone heard of this, or can anyone give me any ideas on how to get cheaper tickets.

You can normally get cheaper tickets out there, by agreeing to wander around timeshares and stuff like that, but I wouldn't really trust this book.

It's a shame she mentioned it so late - buying combo tickets can work out cheaper. Is there any chance of returning / upgrading your existing tickets?

Not sure thought we had a good deal with B gardens/Seaworld/Aquatice/Universal x 2 for £176 each.
