From past experience, can anyone tell me the best month to book flights to Orlando from Gatwick to get the cheapest flight?
Cheers0 -
Anyone care to share their experiences with the VRoom? We're booked it for our forthcoming trip, just wondered if it's a good way to keep my 7y/o son entertained til we get on the plane!:)Bankrupt 28/07/08!0

Hope that it helps some of you.
the thing with the dibb is the people are great and give good advice but the actual advice and details on the site are out of date.Self confessed Florida expertwith over 320 trips there!

This point has been raised many times on this thread, with no firm conclusion. Many people have done it without a car. So it can be done. We always go for the car as we both like to look around, from Many's Chop House in the south to Church street in the north. It gives you much more freedom but you are paying for it!
I cannot find anything with Thompson for Oct. whether their flights are full or they will put them up later, remains to be seen.
An interesting thing happened on the car front...... Len Testa who is the author of the Unoffical Guide to WDW and also a host on a Podcast called WDW Today recently stayed at the Poly the same days as me. We were supposed to meet up for a drink and a chat but he did not hire a car and used Disney transport It was a nightmare !!!!
So now I am a complete convert and would say if you can afford the extra 200 quid ofr two weels get the car pleaseSelf confessed Florida expertwith over 320 trips there!

We hope to do a fly drive with Monarch at the end of Sept but it says that you need a credit card for the car hire. We both only have Visa Electrons and I don't think this is recognised in the US. Has anyone had this problem? Would we be able to leave a deposit and if so how much?
Thanks in advance for any help

hi,
i dont have a credit card either, they should accept your visa electron or they may ask for a deposit of around $100. thats the most i have been asked for. i usually pay with my debit card.0 -
We just got back from Florida yesterday, so I thought I would share a few things I learnt.
Virgin - good, but nothing fantastic. Not really any better than the budget airlines.
Floridays hotel - nice accomodation, but little to do on site. Disney hotel was better.
It may sound obvious, but it is definately worth getting to the parks early. When we went to Universal IoA, we were there first think and got on the Hulk ride with a 5 minute wait. An hour later the wait was more than an hour.
I would think if you were planning to do both Universal parks in one day then paying extra for the "Fastpass" (I forget the name) would be worht doing. Not sure of the price though.
Also when we went to Typhoon Lagoon we were there early and we had managed to go on all the big slides by lunchtime. After that the queues were too big.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.0 -
Ok
We looked at Netflights and definately going to hire a car- for 75 quid for the basic, it will definately be worth it, we can take the Iride when weve had a cocktail or two:beer:
We would like to keep the accomodation costs as low as poss, and been looking on hotels.com and see a number of "basic" motels for around the 15 quid a night mark. Im happy to pay up to 30- but this end has to have some level of value added.
Has anyone got any particular recommendations for the budget end? I guess the best place would be international drive? Or would it be kissimmee? Wed like to be able to get out to some real nightlife- we have no kids so can stay out as late as we like
Kissimmee looks like the place for nightlife- plus of course all the others like city walk, PI etc.
Decisions, decisions- can anyone help
You might be disappointed on this one, didn't PI close??0 -
Yes PI is shut . I think there are plans to reopen with more restaurants and shops.
Also the big Virgin store and Downtown is shut too.January Grocery 11/3740
